TYPES OF STATIONARY BIKES AT FITNESS SOLUTIONS SASKATOON

Stationary Bikes at Fitness Solutions

Stationary bikes make excellent additions to your home gym. Riding one provides an effective total body workout burning calories and body fat while also strengthening your heart, lungs, and muscles. At Fitness Solutions Saskatoon, we have a wide variety of stationary bikes available either in stock or to order for you.

Upright Bike

The upright bike is similar to a regular bicycle, with the pedals positioned under your body. It provides a great cardio workout while also strengthening your leg and core muscles. Depending on your preference, this bike can be used both standing or sitting.

One of many upright bikes we have at Fitness Solutions is the Sole Fitness B54 Upright Cycle. The SOLE B54 upright cycle's low-impact motion is one of the main benefits of exercising with an indoor cycle. Decreasing stress on knees, hips, and ankles throughout your workout while providing positive cardiovascular effects, it is suitable for anything from maintenance to high-performance exercise. The B54 is easy to use at any exercise level and takes up a relatively small amount of space, making it an ideal fitness partner for your home workout.

Recumbent Bike

Recumbent stationary bikes allow you to sit in a comfortable reclined position on a larger seat that’s positioned back from the pedals. This type of bike puts less stress on your upper body, joints, and low back. Your body is fully supported, which can make your workout less intense. You’ll also have less fatigue and muscle soreness after your workout.

Fitness Solutions has different options of recumbent bikes including the S3Ri Recumbent Bike. Featuring the Concept Health and Fitness integration which allows for countless entertainment and motivational options, the S3Ri is a full-size, walk-through recumbent featuring the latest in creature comforts for enjoyable workouts.

Indoor Cycle Bike

The indoor cycle bike, which is the most popular option in indoor cycling classes, is similar to an upright bike. However, it has an elevated seat.

Another difference is that resistance is created with a weighted flywheel on the front, which is typically about 40 pounds. The resistance can be adjusted to simulate hills or riding into the wind.

An option for an indoor spin bike at Fitness Solutions is the Horizon Fitness IC7.9 Indoor Cycle Spin Bike. Designed to keep pace with the most popular live and on-demand streaming fitness classes, the IC7.9 indoor cycle puts your tablet and content at the centre of your experience. Pedal along with Peloton, Studio SWEAT onDemand or other popular streaming fitness apps.* Bring your favourite media or just ride — no membership fees or subscriptions are required to get the most from this high-performance bike.

Air Bike

A less common type of stationary bike is a fan or air bike. This bike doesn’t have any preprogrammed options as you create resistance by pedalling. The faster you pedal, the faster the wheel blades rotate and the more resistance you generate.

Fitness Solutions has air bikes including the Bells of Steel Blitz Air Bike 2.0. The Blitz Air Bike is the definitive choice for your home gym. Belt-driven with an oversized fan and comes standard with wind guard, bottle and phone holder and a super comfy seat! This fan bike is well suited to even the most die-hard garage gym athletes.

Trusted Saskatoon Fitness Equipment Store, Fitness Solutions Share 5 Things to Know About Infrared Saunas

Fitness Solutions is a locally owned, Trusted Saskatoon Fitness Equipment storeserving residential and commercial customers for over 30 years. They have the tools and the experience to make your fitness goals a reality. They are there every step of the way to guide and educate you through the process of finding the perfect piece of equipment to make it happen. In our latest Trusted Saskatoon fitness article, they provide information on home saunas that are available at Fitness Solutions Saskatoon.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT INFRARED SAUNAS FROM FITNESS SOLUTIONS SASKATOON

Infrared Saunas from Fitness Solutions Saskatoon

Home saunas are known to provide plenty of health benefits including relieving sore muscles, reducing stress, and helping maintain healthy skin to name a few. Saunas also add value to your home and require very little upkeep. Here are 5 things to know about infrared saunas from Fitness Solutions Saskatoon.

1. What is an Infrared Sauna?

Infrared saunas use infrared heaters to emit infrared light experienced by the body as radiant heat. This heat is absorbed by the surface of the skin without warming the air around you.

2. How Does an Infrared Sauna Work?

Saunas heat the body primarily by conduction and convection from the heated air and by radiation of the heated surfaces in the sauna room. This infrared heat penetrates more deeply into the skin than just warmed air. This allows you to experience a more intense and tolerable sweat at a lower temperature. A traditional sauna uses heat to warm the air, which in turn warms your body without being absorbed through the skin.

3. What Kind of Infrared Home Saunas Does Fitness Solutions Carry?

Fitness Solutions carries Seaview Cedar Infrared Home Saunas which are available from 1 person up to 4 person:

If you are interested in any of the infrared saunas available at Fitness Solutions, please give us a call at 306-933-3310 or email us at info@fitnesssaskatoon.com.

4. What Should You Know Before You Try an Infrared Sauna?

There are a few things you should know before indulging in your first session:

  • Avoid using an infrared sauna if you’ve been drinking alcohol.
  • If you feel ill or have a fever, it’s best to wait to use the sauna until you’re feeling better.
  • Using an infrared sauna will cause you to sweat a lot, so you may feel lightheaded when you stand up. If this happens, make sure you get up slowly and sit down once you leave the sauna. Drink water immediately after finishing your session and wait for your body to cool down before doing anything else.
  • In extreme cases, some people may experience overheating (heat stroke and heat exhaustion) or dehydration.

***If you have any health conditions such as high blood pressure, heart problems, or are under medical care, get cleared by your doctor before your first session.***

5. How to use an Infrared Sauna

  • Drink water: Make sure you’re hydrated before going into an infrared sauna. Drink a glass of water before your session. You can also bring water into the sauna, especially if you’re sensitive to higher heat.
  • Choose the temperature: The average temperature for an infrared sauna ranges from 100˚F to 150˚F, with beginners starting out at the lower end and more experienced users at the higher end. If this is your first time, start with 100˚F. You may want to stay at this temperature for a few sessions. You can always increase the temperature each session until you reach 150˚F.
  • Length of time: For first-time users, start with 10 to 15 minutes. You can add time to each session until you reach the suggested time of 20 to 30 minutes. Saunas come with a timer, so make sure to set it. You don’t want to stay in there too long and risk becoming dehydrated.
  • What to wear: How you dress is your choice. Some people will wear bathing suits, while others prefer to go in naked.
  • What you can do while in the sauna: Relax, read, meditate, listen to music, or visit with friends. Just don’t go to sleep.
  • After the session is over: When your session is done, it’s suggested that you take your time and let your body cool down. Once cooled down, feel free to take a shower or bath. Just make sure you are drinking plenty of water.
  • Number of sessions per week: Most facilities that offer infrared sauna treatments recommend using the sauna three to four days per week. If you are healthy and tolerate the four days, you can use the sauna daily.

Trusted Saskatoon Fitness Equipment Store, Fitness Solutions Share 5 Fitness Trends for 2021

Fitness Solutions is a locally owned, Trusted Saskatoon Fitness Equipment store, serving residential and commercial customers for over 30 years. They have the tools and the experience to make your fitness goals a reality. They are there every step of the way to guide and educate you through the process of finding the perfect piece of equipment to make it happen. In their latest Trusted Saskatoon fitness article, they discuss 5 fitness trends to expect in 2021.

5 FITNESS TRENDS TO LOOK FOR IN 2021

The Covid-19 pandemic changed the way most of us are used to getting our exercise into our daily lives. Routines were altered and new measures were taken for fitness. Thankfully fitness will never go away, but there are trends that will be expected to rise for this year in 2021.

Virtual Fitness

Gyms and fitness clubs have had to experiment with alternative ways of providing their services to customers at home. Virtual workout classes have started to be offered whether that be from your local gym or from online video platforms.

Virtual fitness classes are a great way to continue doing the workout classes that you enjoy while staying safe and keeping your distance from others. Classes can be found with a low-cost subscription, while others may even be offered free of charge.

Cleaning & Sanitizing Practices

Many fitness enthusiasts have moved away from going to the gym until working out is safer to do so. Gym owners, trainers, and gym attendees will be expected more than ever to ensure cleaning and sanitizing practices remain long after the pandemic is over. Along with proper social distancing and safety norms to be followed before a person enters the fitness facility.

Body & Mind Training

According to ISPO.com, the trend toward yoga, mental training, or Pilates existed before the Covid-19 pandemic but it has intensified since.

“More and more people want to combine physical training with mental relaxation,” according to ISPO.com. “This desire is triggered not only by job-related stress but also by the strenuous homeschooling with children or financial and health fears in connection with the pandemic.”

At Fitness Solutions Saskatoon we have a variety of fitness accessories to help you with your mental training. Contact us to learn more about incorporating body and mind training into your routine.

Increased Focus on HIIT

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) was ranked the number two trend in 2020, according to ASCM’s Health and Fitness Journal, and it’s looking as if it’ll continue to remain one of the top fitness trends in 2021.

HIIT exercises tend to take significantly less time to do than a regular workout, making it attractive to people who have busier lives. You don’t need specialized equipment to do it and you can still reap the rewards. Burning more calories in a shorter period of time is another one of the many benefits of HIIT.

Outdoor Fitness

Outdoor fitness with gyms or local fitness studios will also be a trend to encourage fitness goers to enjoy classes outside where they can be safely distanced.

During the lockdown in 2020, many people incorporated a daily outdoor walk, run or jog into their fitness routines. Getting fresh air while exercising is a great way to stay active and healthy and this trend will continue as it has become a part of people’s routines.

Trusted Saskatoon Fitness Equipment Store, Fitness Solutions Share The Benefits Of Trampolines

Fitness Solutions is an established Trusted Saskatoon Fitness Equipment store. They have the tools and the experience to make your fitness goals a reality. They are There every step of the way to guide and educate you through the process of finding the perfect piece of equipment to make it happen. In their latest Trusted Saskatoon fitness article, they wanted to share the benefits of jumping and what equipment they have in store to put the spring onto your step this Spring!

Spring Into Better Health With Fitness solutions Trampolines In Saskatoon

Spring Into Better Health

Jumping on a trampoline exercises the whole body. The g-force that bouncing produces helps to build muscle and burn fat quickly. This firms up every part of your body – including legs, thighs, arms, hips and stomach. It also has the added benefit of improving agility and balance. In our latest fitness article, we share the history of bouncing, some bouncing options and the trampoline options we have in store at Fitness Solutions in Saskatoon.
The modern trampoline was created by George Nissen in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, in 1936. In 1938 the first “small trampoline” was created by Ed Russell, who left his ideas and prototype with Victor Green, who patented the “small trampoline” in 1975. Within a year, five American companies were manufacturing small trampolines, which were soon called rebounders.

Mini trampoline bouncing

Also known as rebounding—is an exercise that takes place on a trampoline. The exercise gained popularity in 1980 when NASA began using rebounding to help astronauts regain bone density after returning from space. This came on the heels of a study published in the Journal of Physiology that found rebounding is 68 percent more efficient than running.

“Rebound Exercise is the most efficient, effective form of exercise yet devised by man.”

Today, there appears to be an upsurge of interest in rebound exercise, in part due to the increasing quality of equipment and in part due to its use in physical therapy and the fight against obesity generally. Rebound exercise begins as soon as someone steps on a rebounder and begins to move their body. It can be highly aerobic — full-on sprints and interval training are ideal on a rebounder because it does not jar the physical body anywhere near as much as does hard ground — or it can be very slow and gentle, with only a gentle rocking taking place.

Fitness Solutions has several mini trampoline rebounder in stock, including the one pictured above: Rebounder

Full-Size Trampolines- Not Just For Kids

If you have a trampoline in your backyard - or if you are considering one for your children, you can use it too!  We understand that not everyone is skilled enough or confident enough to do backflips, but that doesn't mean you have to avoid jumping on yourself. Below are a few additional ideas for incorporating a full-size trampoline into your workout routine.

Upper-Body Drills

Target your upper body by doing the plank-to-pushup exercise on the trampoline. Get down into a plank position so your body forms a straight line and you are supporting your weight on your forearms and feet. Push yourself up onto your hands and then do a pushup to complete one repetition. ground. Push yourself back up into the starting position and repeat. The instability of the surface makes this much more challenging in a trampoline - this equals more benefits for you.

Tackle the Lower Body

To work your lower body do lateral plyo jumps by standing on your left foot on the left side of the trampoline. Quickly jump to the right side, landing on your right foot to complete one repetition. Continue hopping from side to side as quickly as you can. You can also perform squats, lunges, jogging in place, high knee running or jumping jacks while on the trampoline.

Condition Your Core

The power bounce with lateral reach exercise helps strengthen your abdominals, lower back and hips. Sit on the trampoline and hop back up into a standing position as quickly as you can. Reach alternate arms across your chest every time you stand back up. You can also do crunches by sitting on the trampoline with your hands to your chest and your knees bent at 90-degree angles. Lean back so that you are balancing on your buttocks. Crunch your torso toward your knees without resting your lower back on the trampoline.

Fitness Solutions sister company, AAA Trampolines are proud to provide the CTM Backyard Trampolines. We carry a wide variety of shapes and sizes of Octagon and Rectangular Trampolines.  The CTM Trampolines are an excellent durable trampoline for the whole family and a piece you will have for years to come. Benefits of Bouncing

  • Boosts lymphatic drainage and immune function.
  • Great for the skeletal system and increasing bone mass.
  • It helps improve digestion.
  • More than twice as effective as running, without the extra stress on the ankles and knees.
  • Increases endurance on a cellular level by stimulating mitochondrial production (these are responsible for cell energy).
  • It helps improve balance by stimulating the vestibule in the middle ear.
  • Helps improve the effects of other exercises: One study found that those who rebounded for 30 seconds between weight lifting sets saw 25 percent more improvement after 12 weeks than those who did not.
  • Rebounding helps circulate oxygen throughout the body to increase energy.
  • Rebounding is a whole-body exercise that improves muscle tone throughout the body.
  • Some sources claim that the unique motion of rebounding can also help support the thyroid and adrenals.
At Fitness Solutions we have the tools and the experience to make your fitness goals a reality. Whether it's a treadmill, free weights, racks, elliptical, yoga mat, or paddleboard, we are here every step of the way to guide and educate you through the process of finding the perfect piece of equipment to make it happen.

HOW TO ADJUST YOUR FITNESS GOALS FOR FALL AND WINTER

The change of seasons can throw off your fitness routine considerably. If you're used to running around your neighbourhood after work, you may be hesitant to keep that hobby up once the sun starts going down at 5 p.m. Adjusting your fitness routine can take some effort, but your goals shouldn't disintegrate just because the seasons start to change.

INSPIRE YOURSELF

Baggy clothing, unhealthy snacking and pushing back your bedtime will all conspire to land you on the couch during the winter months. Instead, look for small changes you can make to give your body a very different message. Wearing a fitted cardigan is a way to let yourself see the results that you've made after all your workouts. Going to bed earlier is the best way to wake up earlier feeling rested and refreshed so you can go for that morning run. Skipping the potato chips at your mid-afternoon break and substituting whole grains can give you the energy you need to stay on track.

SUB IN WINTER ACTIVITIES

Ice skating, skiing and sledding are all great ways to burn calories while enjoying the new season. And while you may need to travel a few Kilometers to find a rink or trail the effort will be well worth it. Not only will you be testing and improving your physical stamina, but you'll also be learning or improving upon a skill. If you come back from the activity and your shoes are soaked through, put crushed up newspapers inside them and set them in a warm (but not hot) place. Too much heat can wear down the materials of your expensive shoes.

Another option to keep up with your fitness plans during winter is to start using a gym. Fitness Focus provides all the tools for any person to pursue growth and empowerment through personal challenge. Working out a gym offers you consistency so you're less likely to alter your routine no matter what season it is. At Fitness focus, we offer free 2 week trials and are proud to offer an exceptional childcare service.  Contact us today and see how we can help you maintain or achieve your fall-winter goals!
