Your first step into the beautiful Wheatland Fireplace Kitchen & Bath Saskatoon showroom will help you understand why Wheatland has been given the Thumbs up by Trusted Saskatoon in the bathroom category. Wheatland loves their customers and as a result, their customers love and TRUST them. In their latest bathroom tip, they share beautiful bathroom vanity design ideas.

Beautiful Bathroom Vanity Design Ideas

Massive or understated, modern or traditional, decorative or plain practical: the bathroom vanity can be anything you want it to be. It's the place where you prim and pamper yourself, or just comb your hair quickly; it's the place where we get a few minutes to be with ourselves each day, staring at our reflection in the mirror.

Whatever you need out of your vanity space, one of these design ideas ought to inspire you.

1. Rustic Style

Go back to basics with a rustic bathroom vanity. Rough wood, filled with natural knots and colors, recalls the naked wood beams on the ceiling and enhances woodland-inspired decor.

2. Modern Floating Vanity

A weightless white modern vanity in decor represents everything you need in modern, minimalist decor: tons of white, a floating style for minimal floor footprint, and lacquered shine for some light-reflecting texture.

3. Simple and Clean

The simple lines and colors, make a great choice for people with simple tastes. Lots of storage, plenty of counter space on both sides of the sink, and gorgeous light fixtures work together to make your space practical and beautiful.
About This Term: Primary Bathroom
Many real estate associations, including the National Association of Home Builders, have classified the term "Master Bedroom" (or "Master Bathroom") as discriminatory. "Primary Bedroom" is the name now widely used among the real estate community and better reflects the purpose of the room.

4. Asymmetrical Vanity

The asymmetrical effect attracts attention and opens up the room to feature the open plumbing and the weightlessness of it all. It's unexpected—and that's what makes it special.

5. Glamorous Mirrored Vanity

You'll feel like a glamorous Hollywood star as you prepare for a night out at a gorgeous mirrored vanity table. Add a  beautiful French etched mirror and  chandelier-inspired light fixture—everything you need to bring out the glam girl in you.

6. Gold and Blue

The golden brass hardware on this vanity contrasts beautifully with the dark blue paint—in this bathroom . This decor has a royal, regal feel that makes you feel like the ruler of your home—and your day.

7. Small Modern Bathroom Vanities

 Instead of one large piece of furniture,  go with two smaller spaces, one for each person, so that they don't step on each others' toes in the morning. Clever.

8. Floating Marble

 The floating style gives a vanity interesting weightlessness, given the material; the minimal surroundings really bring out the quality of the stone. And a natural wood shelf right under the vanity serves to hold all you need for your morning and evening beauty routines.

9. DIY Farmhouse Vanity

You can fit the interior with shelves and drawers. It's great for small spaces too: its minimal profile fits very well in a bathroom corner.

10. Recycled Antique Bureau

Reuse, recycle, reclaim! An antique bureau-turned-vanity will show you that some things deserve a second chance. Multiple drawers provide lots of storage, and an arched front design makes for unusual bathroom vanity.

11. Couples Vanities

If you have space to spare in your primary bathroom, you might want to consider this kind of setup. Two sinks are separated by a dressing space, which includes an extra mirror, a slim drawer, and a tufted stool. The overall look is traditional and classic, which makes it perfect for a gender-neutral space.

12. Simple Open Vanity

You don't always need lots of drawers or space to make a bathroom vanity effective. A simple shelf side table works well enough for her small bathroom. Add a basin sink, which fits on any flat space, and a wall-mounted faucet for extra space savings.

13. Midcentury Modern

Take yourself back to the 60s with a mid-century modern design. add splashes of color on the drawers and top cabinet door and sleek, hardware-less build suits the shallow vessel sink.

14. Nook Vanity

Have an extra nook space in your bathroom? Why not transform it with a dressing table? Bonus: you have a dedicated space for your beauty supplies, which won't clutter up the counter space around the sink.

15. Rough Wood

Sometimes the beauty of nature requires no refinement. Add a double-shelf rough wood counter with a vessel sink and modern faucet fixtures. The balance of polished and unpolished, wood and stone, will make any bathroom a striking space.

16. Eclectic Powder Room

There is something wonderfully indescribable about this bathroom. The spiky mirror frame, the rough, unpolished-edged countertop, the rustic wood, and distressed-looking wall finish all seem rather strange on their own, but together they make for something mysteriously appealing. This Southwestern powder room by Platinum Companies features a rustic vanity with a low-profile vessel sink to fulfill all your desires of a dark and stormy bathroom.

Trusted Saskatoon Tire and Auto Repair & Service Winter Car Maintenance Tips

Be Safe On The Roads This Winter

Safe driving is always important, but being on the road during winter warrants extra precautions. That's why we have written up our most important tips to stay safe in hazardous, wintery weather conditions.

1) Avoid slipping and sliding

Ensure your vehicle is ready for Canada’s changing winter weather, by switching your all-season tires to winter ones before the temperature drops below 7°C. Winter tires optimize the performance and safety of winter driving. The braking distance of a winter tire could be up to two vehicle lengths shorter than the braking distance of an all-season tire.

2) Replace Worn Tires

It’s extremely important to check your tires each winter season because worn or bald tires can be very dangerous. Tires have tread wear indicator bars moulded into them. A solid bar of rubber across the width of the tread means it’s time to replace the tire.

3) Make Sure Your Tires Are Correctly Inflated

For every 5°C drop in temperature, tires lose one pound of air pressure. To ensure optimum fuel efficiency and prevent irregular or premature wear, tire inflation should be checked monthly. Several tire manufacturers recommend that tire pressure should be higher in the winter, so check to see whether your tire pressure should be adjusted accordingly.

4) Fill Your Trunk With A Winter Survival Kit

Winter weather can be very unpredictable, so make sure you have a winter survival kit in your trunk in case you get stuck in bad conditions. Every car should have a scraper for the windshield, a small shovel, candles, and warm clothing such as a winter jacket, gloves and a hat. Also, make sure you bring a cell phone with you on every trip in case you need to call for help.

5) Defrost Your Vehicle Properly

Although it takes you a few extra minutes, make sure to properly clean your windows and remove any excess snow from the top of your vehicle. Ice and snow that is left on your vehicle can obstruct your view, causing potentially dangerous situations.

6) Top Up Your Fluids

Wintery road conditions can cause your windshield to get dirty quickly, so make sure your windshield washer fluid is filled up. Also, ensure your gas tank is at least half full, as on very cold days the condensation in the tank can freeze and cause problems.

7) Buckle Up & Adjust To Driving Conditions

Make sure you are always buckled up and adjust your driving to what the conditions are like. You will put yourself and others at risk if you do not change your driving style to suit the wintery conditions.

Saskatoon Auto Repair and Service Experts Explain Belts and Hoses and 2018 Vehicles with Low Maintenance Costs

Vehicle Systems Overview - Belts and Hoses

What are the belt and hoses?

A vehicle’s belts and hoses are essential elements of the cooling, air conditioning and charging systems of the engine.  When a belt or hose breaks down it can leave you stranded, so it is important to meet the set replacement intervals recommended in your owner’s manual.

What do belts and hoses do?

Timing Belt

The timing belt is a notched rubber belt that allows the crankshaft to turn the camshaft. A timing belt is sometimes called a Gilmer belt or a camshaft drive belt. The camshaft opens and closes the valves in synchronized movement with the engine’s pistons.

Serpentine Belt

Serpentine belts, also known as drive belts, provide power to the air conditioning compressor, power steering pump, cooling fan, air injection pump, and more.

Coolant Hoses

Coolant hoses include the upper and lower radiator hoses plus heater hoses. Some cars include a bypass hose. Hoses provide a flexible connection for coolant flow between the engine, radiator, engine and heating block.

TYPICAL WEAR AND TEAR ON BELTS AND HOSES

Key items that affect the replacement interval for belts and hoses:

  • Vehicle age;
  • Electrolytic corrosion;
  • Mileage;
  • Oil contamination;
  • Belt tension; and/or
  • Failed hose clamps.

SYMPTOMS

  • Squeaking noise from under the hood during start-up or operation;
  • Coolant leaks;
  • Dashboard light illumination;
  • A/C system failure;
  • Engine overheating; and/or
  • Smell of burnt rubber.

Glenwood Auto Service Shares 2018 Vehicles With The Lowest Maintenance Costs

Kelley Blue Book announced the winners of its seventh annual 5-Year Cost to Own Awards where Hyundai took the win on the lowest maintenance costs and repair side of things, followed by Acura.

The 2018 Hyundai Accent came out on top for maintenance and repair costs. Over the course of 5 years, customers would pay $3,002 to take care of their vehicle, or about $600 per year. Kelley Blue Book pegged repair costs at $553, with the costs of maintenance being $2,449 (all prices in U.S. dollars).

 Hyundai was named this year’s top brand for lowest total ownership costs, the second time it has finished on top since the program was created. Hyundai models won thanks to top marks in almost all categories, such as low repair costs and superior warranty program. Its Sonata model won in the mid-size car category, with the Elantra and the Accent coming in second place in the compact and subcompact car categories.

Acura took the win for the best luxury brand for the third year in a row, backed by its ILX and MDX models.

In particular, the 2018 ILX saw repair and maintenance costs come in at $3,521 over the first five years or $704 annually. Kelley Blue Book listed repairs at $1,154 and maintenance at $2,367.

Third place belonged to the 2018 Chevrolet Spark, which won for the best subcompact car. The maintenance and repair costs are estimated at $3,950 which would equal out to paying $790 a year. The repair costs amount to $1,869 with maintenance costs sitting at $2,081, according to Kelly Blue Book.

On average, in all 23 categories of the vehicle winners, the costs of repairs over the course of 5 years is around $1,550 with maintenance at $2,718 – or $4,268 combined.

The 5-year Cost to Own information takes into consideration the areas of the vehicle that people’s money goes into like depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair costs, and state fees. These categories are all areas that come into play when making a vehicle purchase.
