Parking a portion of your investment portfolio in cash or money market instruments for extended periods of time may mean you are sacrificing returns and potentially exposing yourself to another risk – the eroding effects of inflation.  Interest rates are at historical lows and they have not kept pace with the cost of living!  If your money is invested in anything under that cost, your money is losing its purchasing power.  You are guaranteeing yourself a negative rate of return on your investments that are invested like this.  So you tell me, are these investments safe then?

Fitness Solutions your Trusted Saskatoon Fitness equipment experts share a tip on Fitness gear and workouts

Fitness Solutions is a sincere company with a straightforward vision: to provide you with the fitness tools to change your life. They believe that with a little help every single person has the ability within themselves to achieve their fitness goals and that "Fit is not a destination, it's a way of life.".

Fitness Solutions are your Trusted Saskatoon Fitness & Fitness Equipment experts

Here they share a tip on Fun and Functional Fitness Gear and Workouts:

I want to talk about Fitness and I'm going to use the word Fun and also Functional. Does that seem crazy to you? A lot of trends come and go through our lifetime whether it be diets, cloths, music and of course fitness and workouts. While the bright neon spandex workout gear might continue to cycle in and out of popularity there are two things that I hope are here to stay and I bet you can guess what I'm going to say? That's right Fun and Functional fitness gear and workouts.

One of our biggest concerns right now is an aging population mixed with overwhelming increase in obesity rates and cardiovascular disease it's really a perfect storm. Somewhere along the way we started working too hard and not playing nearly enough. I use the word play because that's how we need to start viewing exercise and fitness. If we can take a more lighthearted approach and crack a smile once in a while you can actual have fun while exercising! So now you're saying well that's great I hate running but if I fake a smile maybe I will enjoy it? No, if you hate running then don't do it! Get on a bike, get on a paddle board, and visit the local gym just try activities until you find the one that makes you happy. When or if you get board of that don't worry something new always comes along.

Exercise sometimes has a way of straying away from functionality. While having fun exercising it's important to also look at the functionality of what we're doing. Finding an activity that challenges our strength (especially core) and balance is a must.

If you have a job sitting all day you really need to work your core (back muscles are part of the core) and ensure that you have the strength to hold yourself upright all day with proper posture. Insert plug for slack lines these are a magnificent activity where fun and functional come together. You are constantly doing mini squats and lunges working all major muscles in the leg and gluts. You are balancing and standing with very good posture working the core and stabilizers.

If you have a job on your feet and lifting all day you might need to find a more vigorous activity to challenge your strength and make those day to day tasks easier. Cross fit gyms are going up all over the place, Regina alone has 3 well established ones; Cross fit Regina the first to open and now expanding to triple the size they started with as well as Flux Cross fit and Cross fit Villains. This is a perfect mix of strength and stamina where you can learn proper lifting technique and improve your overall strength. There is a good sense of comradery and some competition as well which is where the fun and smiling come in!

In short get out there and find some fitness gear, exercise routines or hobbies that while fun is also helping to improve strength and balance. Talk to a fitness professional and maybe take in a personal training session to find out what you like and don't like. Either way get active and smile while doing it!

The booking process was quick - she asked me on the phone where I had heard about them.  Was able to get us in in 2 days, gave us a time window in which they would be there and said she would try to see if they could come earlier (and they were able to come about an hour earlier).  He called before he came,  wore covers over his shoes and was clean, friendly and did not smell like smoke (huge deal for me).

They have a customer loyalty program which he explained to me and then before I paid explained it all again to my husband on the phone. They called the next day to follow up on the appointment and service - I told her that it was one of first times I didn't feel hesitant about a trades person coming to my house and that I felt when he was done that he had actually fixed the problem (felt confident in that).

My husband and I were so happy with the service that we purchased a lifetime membership for their loyalty program and will be Perfection Plumbing customers for life!

WHAT A GREAT MYSTERY SHOP!!! Yet again showing you deserve the Thumbs Up from

Saskatoon Pilates Centre your Trusted Saskatoon Pilates Experts share a very informative tip that explains Pilates

Saskatchewan’s premiere Pilates Centre– the largest and most fully-equipped Pilates studio in the province. Saskatoon Pilates Centre continues to provide top quality classes with the most experienced and dedicated teachers helping you to experience the integrity of the Pilates exercises integrating body and mind for everyday living. Sounds great, doesn’t it? The founder of the Pilates movement, Joseph Pilates said; “Physical fitness is the attainment and maintenance of a uniformly developed body with a sound mind fully capable of performing our many and varied daily tasks with spontaneous zest and pleasure.”

Let Saskatoon Pilates Centre help you find that “zest and pleasure”!

They are your Trusted Saskatoon Pilates and Health & wellness experts

Here they share a very informative tip that explains Pilates:

The Pilates Method

Pilates is a method of exercise developed by German-born Joseph Pilates. In 1926, Joseph and Clara Pilates brought their exercise system, originally called “Contrology”, to New York City. The Pilates method is a physical movement program designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body.

Pilates exercise focuses on postural symmetry, breath control, abdominal strength, spine, pelvis and shoulder stabilization, muscular flexibility, joint mobility and strengthening through the complete range of motion of all joints. Instead of isolating muscle groups, the whole body is trained, integrating the upper and lower extremities with the trunk.

The PILATES system of exercises reawakens the mind-body connection for optimal physical conditioning. By emphasizing a mental awareness and a deep understanding of how the body moves, Pilates imprints efficient movement patterns that cross over into our everyday lives.

This revolutionary approach to fitness is suitable for all ages and body types. Whether the goal is to enhance a sporting or performance activity, rehabilitation from chronic pain or injury, or simply to gain a more active, healthy lifestyle, Pilates has something to offer everyone.

Pilates is complete coordination of body, mind and spirit. The guiding principles of the Pilates Method are whole body health, whole body commitment, and breath.

With systematic practice of specific exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns, Pilates has proven itself invaluable not only as a fitness endeavor itself, but also as an important adjunct to professional sports training and physical rehabilitation of all kinds.

Not Designed to be Aerobic:

Pilates exercise was never designed to be aerobic nor did Joseph claim that his exercises were aerobic. Recent research has supported this statement in showing that Beginner Mat Pilates is low-moderate intensity and Intermediate and Advanced Mat work meets the criteria for moderate intensity activities. (Olsen, et al 2003)

Not Only for Elite or Wealthy:

Joseph Pilates suggested that everyone should do his exercises everyday. To book a private session with a Pilates teacher should be considered in the same arena as booking time with a massage therapist or personal trainer at a cost of $50-$100 per hour. Pilates teachers also recommend that their clients practice Pilates exercises everyday or at least 3-4 times per week at home to supplement their training in the studio.

Not Only for Healthy or Well:

Joseph Pilates also modified his method of exercise based on whether his client had injuries. Pilates can be modified for unfit, post-trauma, post-disease, elderly, and has been shown to increase enjoyment and participation in exercise even for children. (Ickes 2005, Jago 2005)

Pilates is Not Fusion:

Pilates is performed on a mat or apparatus that Joseph Pilates designed: Reformer, Trapeze Table, Wunda Chair, High Back Chair, Ladder Barrel, Half Barrel, Spine Corrector, Ped-O-Pul, Head Harness, Foot Corrector, Toe Corrector, Magic Circle, Bean Bag and Pinwheel. Pilates is not performed in a pool, on a small or large ball or in combination with other forms of exercise and still called Pilates. Today, it is certainly

acceptable to apply the principles to all forms of movement, exercise, sports and daily life activities as Joseph intended.

Purist vs. Modified Pilates:

The PMA believes that Pilates should evolve along with the advances of modern science, maintaining the integrity of the method with the safety and health of its participants always in mind. This means that if an exercise is determined to be contra-indicated or unsafe we will respect it as historical repertoire and modify it or delete it from any client’s program that might be injured by performing the exercise.

Trusted Saskatoon Investment Advisor and Saskatoon Wealth Management Experts share a tip on contributing to RRSPs

Great tip on contributing to your RRSPs without even thinking about it:

Do you contribute to your RRSP once a year, on or around March 1, and continue on the same course until the following spring? If so, you could be missing out on the potential for substantial, long-term compound growth by investing sooner within your Fidelity RRSP.

Pre-authorized chequing lets you contribute early and often (and effortlessly) throughout the year rather than at the last minute. It can provide you up to 12 more months of compounding and tax-deferred growth.

As an Investment Professional, I continually work with my clients to assess their goals and design and carry out investment programs that work for them. This includes diversifying their investments, using a long-term perspective to maximize returns while reducing risk. It’s never too late, or too early, to begin planning for your retirement. I can help you assess your goals and will work with you to establish an investment program that’s specially designed for you.

I would be pleased to discuss your financial future and ways in which I can assist you in your long-term investment planning.
