Trust the professionals at Imagery Photography Saskatoon with your special moments because they understand the importance these memories hold and work with you to ensure that they stay with you for a lifetime. Imagery is your Trusted Saskatoon photographer and in this latest article, owner Milton explains why professional photographers are worth the money.

PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERS ARE WORTH THE MONEY

Hiring a professional photographer can offer numerous benefits and advantages over relying on amateur or DIY photography. Here are some reasons why it's worth considering hiring a professional photographer:

1. Quality and Expertise: Professional photographers have extensive knowledge, skills, and experience in capturing high-quality images. They understand lighting, composition, angles, and other technical aspects to produce visually appealing and well-executed photographs. Their expertise ensures that you receive images of superior quality.

2. Specialized Equipment: Professional photographers invest in high-quality cameras, lenses, lighting equipment, and editing tools to capture and enhance images effectively. Their equipment allows them to capture details, handle different lighting conditions, and produce professional-grade images that may not be achievable with consumer-grade cameras.

3. Artistic Vision and Style: Professional photographers often have a distinct artistic vision and style that they bring to their work. They can tailor their approach to match your specific needs and desired aesthetic. Whether it's for portraits, events, products, or architectural photography, they can create images that align with your vision and convey the desired message or emotion.

4. Attention to Detail: Professional photographers pay meticulous attention to details, ensuring that every aspect of the photograph is considered, from composition to lighting to post-processing. They have an eye for capturing the right moments, expressions, and details that help tell a story or highlight the subject effectively.

5. Professional Editing and Retouching: Beyond capturing the images, professional photographers have the expertise to enhance and retouch photographs using specialized editing software. They can optimize colours, adjust exposure, remove imperfections, and create a polished and professional look that enhances the overall impact of the images.

6. Consistency and Reliability: Professional photographers have a track record of delivering consistent results. They understand how to adapt to various shooting conditions and can provide consistent quality across different projects. Their experience and professionalism ensure that they meet deadlines, fulfill commitments, and deliver the desired outcomes.

7. Specialized Services: Professional photographers offer a range of specialized services tailored to different needs. Whether it's capturing corporate events, weddings, product photography, or professional headshots, they have the expertise and equipment to fulfill specific requirements and produce images that meet your objectives.

8. Saving Time and Effort: By hiring a professional photographer, you can save time and effort that would otherwise be spent on learning photography techniques, scouting locations, and editing images. They handle all aspects of the photography process, allowing you to focus on other important tasks or enjoy the event without worrying about capturing the moments yourself.

9. Professional Image and Branding: Professional photography can significantly enhance the image and branding of individuals, businesses, or organizations. High-quality images contribute to a professional and polished appearance, whether it's for websites, marketing materials, social media, or publications. Investing in professional photography can help make a positive and lasting impression on your target audience.

10. Long-lasting Memories: Professional photographers excel at capturing significant moments, emotions, and memories. Hiring a professional ensures that you have beautiful, high-quality photographs that preserve those special moments for years to come. Whether it's a wedding, family event, or personal milestone, professional photography can help create lasting memories that can be cherished and shared with loved ones.

While hiring a professional photographer comes at a cost, the benefits and value they bring in terms of expertise, quality, and the ability to capture special moments often outweigh the expense. Ultimately, it's an investment that can have a significant impact on the visual representation of individuals, businesses, and special occasions.

Milton B. Taylor, MPA  founded Imagery Photography in 1977. Milton has had an illustrious and lengthy photographic career. He is a multi-award-winning photographer, whose skills are still very much in demand

When we presented Milton with his Trusted Saskatoon 10-Year Award, we asked him about advice he would give others in business and why he has been so successful over so many years. He replied simply and predictably…

"TREASURE LIFE."

“Treasure Life” has been Milton’s motto for many years. “We all get opportunities to do something in life. We have to seize those opportunities and make them count.” He hopes that we can all look back in years to come and recall how wonderful and treasured those opportunities are and that we always treasure life.

Trusted Sara and Milton

“ I have known Milton since meeting him at a breakfast networking event in 2011,  and he has been my photographer ever since. Over the years he has visually documented my life with cherished family photos, passport photos, Trusted event photos and all of our Trusted team and website photos. I have always loved the results and have no hesitation in recommending Milt to anyone looking for a talented and trustworthy photographer in Saskatoon
In 2021 Milton agreed to collaborate with me to raise money for local charities. I roped him into volunteering as my partner and we stepped up a team for the Saskatoon Progress Club’s Celebrity Challenge -which promotes local restaurants and raises money for local charities. We represented Team HomeQuarter and together we sold over $6000 of gift cards and promoted the event far and wide. All in all the event raised over $80,000 for local non-profits, including one close to his heart, Care and Share Saskatoon.  I was thrilled to witness him accepting the prestigious Professional Photographers of Canada: Saskatchewan Fellowship Award. in 2017, which is the highest honour which can be bestowed upon a member. I am so grateful to be able to promote him as .a client, a Trusted partner and to also call him a valued friend."  - Sara Wheelwright - Trusted Saskatoon  Founder.
Milton is also community driven and is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards including but not limited to:

  • SABEX Community Leadership Award
  • 2015 B’nai Brith ‘We’re Proud Of You Award.
  • 2017 NSBA Shirley Ryan Lifetime Achievement Award
  • 2017 Professional Photographers of Canada: Saskatchewan Fellowship Award

Community Support Is At The Foundation Of Imagery Photography

As passionate about volunteering as he is about photography, Milton devotes countless hours to many community organizations, projects and programs. He has been and continues to be, involved with many community and business organizations. If you visit his studio it is impossible to miss all of the awards crowding the window sills and shelves. Most recently, he was Chair of the NSBA board of directors. One of Milton’s greatest passions is his involvement with Care and Share Saskatoon.

Care and Share is a non-profit organization devoted to the needs of Saskatoon’s inner-city schools. Care and Share’s mission is to ensure all children have an opportunity to develop all of their potential: in sports, in school, in culture and in recreation. Milton strongly believes that education is the only way to break the cycle and that the longer children can stay in school, the better their chances of success. Milton volunteers and has served on the board for over 15  years

We guarantee when you choose Imagery Photography as your photographer for family, commercial or professional pictures, you will receive fantastic pictures at a fair price from a local family-owned business that cares!

Trusted Saskatoon Brags About Imagery Photography, A Trusted Saskatoon Photographer!

TrustedSaskatoon.com is so proud to partner with Imagery Photography and tell you why as we brag about this Trusted Saskatoon Photographer!

It seems like everyone who runs in “photographic circles” knows Imagery’s founder, Milton Taylor. Milton started Imagery Photography in 1977 out of a desire to be independently successful – and over the past 35 years has become a name that is synonymous with quality and artistry. As you can imagine, a lot has changed in the photographic industry over 35 years – the technology is very advanced as compared to the old equipment and processes. Milton comments,

“There is more to creating a portrait than a magic camera and photoshop skills… our strength is in our experience, our background in technical training, and our ability to understand the fundamentals – lighting, posing, and the mechanics of exposure.”

Considering that Milton is a Master of the Photographic Arts, we truly believe that at Imagery Photography Saskatoon, you are dealing with the experts!

Your experience with Imagery begins with the initial consultation, where Milton gets to know a bit more about a person, and really listens to what you, the client, want from your session. This is crucial to the success of the shoot because this is where Imagery works with you to discover what style of portraiture will make you the happiest, whether it be journalistic, static, traditional, or environmental.

Listening to their clients is key to their success… Imagery Photography strives to give you the portraits that you will cherish. From this point, you then book your session (with a rain date chosen just in case!), and after that, a client comes back in to sit with Milton for the initial projection. This is where you can review all of the photos in the shoot with your photographic team to choose your favourites. After that, you are emailed your choices to make your final decisions, and then you are ready to order.

We all know that there are different reasons that people do what they do… some do it for the money, some do it for recognition, and some do what they do because they are passionate about it and genuinely love their craft. When we asked Milton what he loves the most about his work, he responded,

“I love working in the environment, working with 3 or 4 generations of family, and working with young couples in love… you can see the passion people have for each other. Things in life will catch your eye if they catch your heart – these are the things you should pursue.”

Essentially, Milton sees himself as a historian – and this is where the artistry really comes into play.

“This work will be seen 50, 60, 100 years from now.”

Imagery Photography works in collaboration with many photographers in the province, hoping to elevate the standards of the industry and the profession as a whole. Milton does quite a bit of mentoring, and the attitude is always that someone once took the time to share knowledge with him, and this is his way to give back to the profession. He states,

“Having a cake and eating it by yourself is no fun. This is my cake and I’m sharing it!”

Asked about retirement, Milton always says he’s retiring on the first... the first time he doesn’t enjoy it anymore, that is! Well. here’s to many more years!!!!!

Trusted Saskatoon Photography Expert at Imagery Photography Explains The Evolution Of Photography

Photographs... memories and precious moments in our lives captured in time with a click of a camera shutter. These are the occasions and days of our lives that only happen once. Trust the professionals at Imagery Photography Saskatoon with your special moments because they understand the importance these memories hold and work with you to ensure that they stay with you for a lifetime. Imagery is your Trusted Saskatoon photographer and in this latest article, owner Milton shares his thoughts on the evolution of photography.

The Evolution Of Photography

Everything moves and shifts with the slow march of time until not much of the past normals are left to be sifted from the sands of the new.

There’s no question that tech has made us much more portable than we ever were. The equipment itself is far more sophisticated and capable — we can see what we are shooting in real-time; we can fine-tune everything to whatever our needs are. We are now able to transmit our pictures from anywhere we can get an internet connection.

When I started, everything was dependent on processed film, which meant having to bring film, a darkroom kit including enlarging and print-making equipment, and a transmitter (very much like a souped-up fax machine). We’d have to find or at least arrange for a telephone line and telephone access when we needed to send our images. The phone lines were all analog, and each picture took around 10 minutes to send — if the line was interrupted for any reason, we’d have to start over. If we got out 10 images in a day, that was huge.

Photographers now can send wide arrays of photos multiple times during the day. The upside of all of this is more time on the scene providing coverage and more choices sent. The smartphone has killed the lower-end camera market, and if it hasn’t killed the mid-range market, it’s sure breathing down its neck. Everyone has a camera with them now at all times, and there's no doubt that we're seeing images that we never before could have contemplated. As we all know, it’s not just still images but also video.

I think it’s the ultimate democratization of photography — anyone at any time from anywhere can produce images that can affect how we think of the world around us. I feel that the common misconception in the debate is that photography has a set value for everyone. I always try to see it in the same way as food shopping. Some of us love to eat, we love to cook, and we love to discover new restaurants.

We spend a disproportionate amount of our income at local farmers' markets, high-end supermarkets, and new openings. It matters to us and it’s something we want to invest in. Others want to spend their money on cars or clothes. That’s fine; they won’t be spending $200 on dinner, because they see no value in it. Photography is very much the same. If a client perceives the value of the event photography to be $100, then they are going to spend $100; a client looking for a $1200 photography delivery is not going to book a $100 photographer.

With each advance in the cellphone market, I wonder what the long-term prognosis is for the high-end cameras. The next evolutionary phase of photography might not be a progression in the way we make images. Instead, it’s quite possible the next unseen horizon will come from the way we share those images with the world or how we store them for ourselves. If a photograph indeed captures a memory, what use is that memory unless it can more tangibly be recalled? Looking back in the history of photography has each subsequent advancement not strived to make the photo more qualitative, more lasting, and more real?
