DO YOU KNOW THE 7 SIGNS?

Connecting the inside to the outside, windows have the important job of helping to keep your home well-ventilated, comfortable and safe. Windows can last anywhere from 20 to 40 years, depending upon the type of window, where it’s located and the amount of maintenance provided. Wear and tear from exposure to the elements also affects their condition over time, decreasing energy efficiency and comfort by creating drafts and leaks

So how do you know when it’s time to replace your windows? You probably pay little attention to them until they stop working properly, but here are 7 signs that the time is now!

Opening and closing them has become difficult.

When your windows are difficult to open and close it will prevent you from allowing fresh air into your home. If they don’t close properly or you have trouble locking them, the window won’t provide a tight seal against leaks and drafts and can also impact the safety of your home. New windows and doors are designed to open and close with ease, provide protection from wind and rain and help keep your home safe. Learn more about how different types of windows operate and the benefits they can provide your home.

You notice a draft.

If you can never seem to get your house warm enough during the winter, you may be suffering from drafty windows. Over time, deterioration and normal wear and tear will cause old windows to stop protecting your home like they should and allow significant amounts of cold air inside. Noticeable drafts mean your windows are not functioning properly and you should consider replacement windows.

They look old and outdated.

You may not realize it, but replacing old, worn out windows can drastically improve the look of your home’s exterior. Faded paint, antiquated storm windows and old-fashioned window grilles often detract from your curb appeal, making your home look and feel outdated. New windows give you a refresh and can better complement the overall design of your home. (Yes, you can replace your windows during the winter!).

You struggle with “dropping windows.

Windows that slide down when you raise them are not only annoying but can also be dangerous. This occurs on double and single hung windows when the spring system is broken or has deteriorated over time. For parents with children, it’s important to watch your children around windows that have the potential to fall down and injure them. If you’re tired of propping up windows that won’t stay up and have safety concerns, it’s time to look for newer, safer windows that function properly.

Your energy bills spike.

During the winter, an abnormally high energy bill may tell you that your windows aren’t operating efficiently – letting cold air in and warm air out. This means your heater has to work overtime to compensate for the loss of heat. Instead, reduce your heating and cooling costs by installing energy-efficient windows that are good for your wallet and the environment.

You can hear outside noise.

Your home is where you find peace and quiet away from noisy neighbors and busy traffic. However, when your refuge is disturbed you can possibly blame poorly sealed windows and outdated glass. Noise-reducing windows with dual-insulating glass units decrease sound from coming into your home. For added protection against unwanted outdoor noise choose a sound-reducing glass package.

You can see visible damage.

Signs of chipping, deterioration or water stains on or around the window may indicate rot and water infiltration. Visible damage of the windows not only looks unattractive but can also reveal that the integrity of your windows may be compromised. Leaky windows can lead to unwanted water infiltration that can also cause additional water issues in your home.

Did you know Your Mortgage Now has a trailer that it loans out for free to clients to help them with their move? Recently Victoria moved and took advantage of this great service.

This is what Victoria had to say:

"I recently used the your Mortgage Now Trailer to move from my basement suite to a new fourth floor one bedroom apartment. Right from the time we set up to use the trailer until the day move day Devin and Wes were nothing but helpful. Wes helped us get the trailer hooked up and made sure we had a good understanding of the trailer.

Bright and Early Saturday we got to load the trailer with the furniture thinking that would be one load that was done. My dad or the organisers said to start on boxes till it was full.  We just kept going and going and before we knew it the apartment was almost empty and the trailer was still not full. In the end it came down to pretty much fitting a one bedroom apartment into that trailer.

So in 1.5 trailer loads and way to many stairs to count we moved
way up in the world(5 floor from a basement suite to 4th floor) very quickly (5 hours) and easy; Big Thanks to Your Mortgage Now!" - Victoria

As well as, performing at hundreds of performances from classical to contemporary, the brothers are patron supporters and musicians of the North Battleford Jazz Society, the Kinsmen Band and the city's school music program. Don was one of the very few Saskatchewan musicians selected to the internationally renown, RCMP Band. EMILIE & OGDEN

Emilie & Ogden is not your typical duet but rather an encounter between a young singer and a harp. Her particular voice has often been described as pure and soft, resonating in perfect harmony with the instrument. On stage, her traditional folk sound is embellished by drums, bass and a soft electronic touch, drawing inspiration from other female artists such as Feist and St. Vincent.

4:00pm

JOEL GRUNDAHL TRIO

The Joel Grundahl Trio is a Saskatoon based instrumental jazz fusion band playing original and cover fusion compositions. The concept of the band is the creation and improvisation of jazz fused with modern music themes. With influences such as Allan Holdsworth, Steve Morse and Eric Johnson the original and cover material challenges and pushes the musical spectrum both technically and sonically. Jazz is an ever evolving music form based on creativity and improvisation. The Joel Grundahl Trio (Joel Grundahl, Lloyd Tomczak and Kyle Krysa) embrace these ideas and carry that torch forward.

Saturday, Jun 25

6:00pm

PILE OF BONES BRASS BAND

The Pile of Bones Brass Band plays music in the spirit of traditional New Orleans jazz and blends it with a variety of musical styles ranging from jazz, blues, and world music, to soul, funk, and R&B. The "Pile" has performed at many local clubs, pubs, festivals, and events and they have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with local, national, and international artists since 2010. In short, the frontline brass will peel paint off the wall, while the rhythm section is the funkiest of them all. The groove is created by rocksteady sousaphone bass lines, street-beat drumming, greasy guitar tones, and raw brass harmonies. Get ready to party like it's Mardi Gras!

Saturday, Jun 25
8:00pm

WIL CAMPA Y SU ORQUESTA

His charisma and the ability to move an audience has brought him to share the stage with the ranks of Winton Marsalis, Poncho Sanchez the Gran Combo, Natalie Cole, Michael Miller, Joe Lovano, Govani Hidalgo, Jimmy Bosh, Jose Alberto el Canario. His voice will capture and embrace you, with an undeniable, engaging stage presence, hearlded as one Cuba’s leading artists, Wil Campa, represents the very best of Cuba. The music lives in his soul!

So don't miss a wonderful day packed with talented performers, laughs and a wonderful family and friend fun day out on the banks of the Saskatchewan River!! Bring a blanket, chair, umbrella and smile!!
