Giving back to our community also tops the list of Brent’s successes over the years. GIBBON GIVES BACK is one of their initiatives and they truly live that generosity. Whether it’s funding local Cubs or Scouts BBQs, as Brent was a Scout Leader for 5 years with his two boys, or coaching hockey for many years he loves teaching on teamwork, leadership, working hard, and having fun. Helping fundraise for various other causes Brent’s always willing to lend a hand. He’s even helped out with the Cancer Society for years and has participated in the Jail n’ Bail Fundraiser as well.

The ‘Gibbon Gives Back’ brand was created by our Trusted graphic designers, and we donated it to Gibbon’s so they could bring a more local feel to the International Lennox Feel the Love Campaign. This is an annual campaign where Gibbon and Lennox request nominations of local people in dire need of a new furnace. Brent from Gibbon regularly adds more to the donation, with extra services, and has even provided a new water heater. These are just some of the many ways Gibbon Gives Back.

It was back in 2006 that Ricky and Rhonda Iula were at a point in their careers where they wanted a change, to start a business where they could be their own boss, something where they could help others, and make a positive difference in the building industry in Saskatoon. Since then, Rhonda and Ricky and their team at Decora Homes have specialized in building exceptional homes and top-quality renovations to meet clients' exact requirements. They had no idea that their vision and mission would have taken off and been so successful. So successful and busy in fact that about 5 years later they partnered with Dustin Grenier who was himself a successful homebuilder. Dustin as well keeps a close eye on every project and is a partner that is more comfortable behind the scenes and taking good care of their projects. At the office, they have dedicated designers and decorators to make sure all the finishing touches are taken care of from start to finish.

At Decora Homes, they believe in keeping their customers up to date during their build or renovation and that is why they have incorporated a 24/7 online program in which the client can log in and view the schedule, photos, list of products chosen, and approve/change orders at their convenience. Decora Homes sources products and fixtures from all over the world and provides their professional and dedicated team of full-time staff to assist you in planning your dream and picking out those finishing products during the construction, along with a full-time service representative for you to contact after you have taken possession of your new home. This is their post-build concierge service, making sure you receive exactly what you had dreamed of and envisioned. 

Over the last 14 years, Decora has completed many amazing projects around Saskatoon and the area. One custom home they are most proud of is in Greenbryre Estates where they have built many unique homes. This gorgeous home had a truly unique design, with its copper roof and unique custom floor plan. The clients brought their wish list and Decora was able to turn their wish and dream into reality, as It turned out to be a fantastic family home. Although the Decora Homes team is best known for building custom homes for clients, they have really seen an increase in the renovation side of the business, both residential and commercial. This also keeps them very busy all year long.

The Life-Changing Benefits of Business Coaching

In 1991, I joined a coaching program called The Strategic Coach which was run by Dan Sullivan out of Toronto. The program has since gone international and has thousands of participants involved globally. Put very simply, it is intended for individuals who are interested in growing both personally and professionally. The goal is for participants to have a great personal life with lots of time off, as well as a great business that generates a lifestyle for them that allows them to live a preferred life.


Why Consider Business Coaching?


Most people think that in order to be successful in business, you have to give away all of your time or to have time off you have to give away money. This program helped me build a good business and have a great personal life. The program offers tools that I can use to enable me to have both personal and professional growth. If you are a business owner, at some point you will likely develop the feeling of complexity. What this means is you simply have run out of time and you can’t get any more results. In fact, running out of time means that you have already potentially cut into a lot of your own personal time as well. The program that I got involved with is not the same program that I’m in today but has many similar characteristics. 


In order to achieve personal and professional growth, you need to have a good team around you. You must identify what your unique abilities are and try to operate in that area. By doing this, you will generally work in areas of your business that give you energy and are usually associated with the highest economic bang for the buck. This means you have to delegate. In order to delegate, it’s critical that you empower people by ensuring they know what they are doing and have the necessary tools and resources. You will also be building empowerment so that bigger results can be made, and making an investment back into your business. Many times when business owners are adding employees they look at it as a cost. It is actually an investment and, if done properly, will yield results that are greater than what you invested.


This is just scratching the surface on coaching and what it’s done for me. If you ask me who needs coaching in business, I would say that everyone needs coaching. But it’s important also that you hit that scene of complexity, you still want to grow, and you’re willing to spend the time and money to do so. If each of those criteria is met, business coaching is something I strongly recommend you pursue.
