BRIDGE CITY DUCT CLEANING did an amazing job! I am new to the city and was not sure who to get... I am very happy that I lucked out in getting such a great company in my home to help me figure out my dust issue! I did not need the full meal deal of everything being cleaned at this time and they were honest about that!

Honesty goes a long way! They could’ve just charged me and done three hours worth of work and I would’ve been none the wiser! They took pictures of my vents/registers and showed me that they were much cleaner than I thought they were!

They found some treasures from the previous owners in my ductwork and they were happy to remove those for me ( toys and debris).  Dave and Darren were Professional, polite, hard-working, honest, explained everything down to the last detail, patiently answered all of my questions LOL I like that they laid down a mat to walk on, their equipment was up-to-date and powerful! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM FOR YOUR DUCT /FURNACE CLEANING ! I will definitely call them back in two years when I need everything done!!!

In their latest article they share why they recommend hiring them to do duct cleaning for new home construction.  Bridge City Duct Cleaning are Trusted Saskatoon Furnace & Duct Cleaners

Why clean the ducts of your brand new home?

Some people say, ‘No Way! It’s new, why would I clean something NEW? I wouldn’t clean a new car or a new garment, why would I clean a new house?!’
And while it might seem counter-intuitive, in this shirt article we’ll be talking about why it’s beneficial for you to do just that! Cleaned Ducts by Bridge City Duct CleaningBefore you set foot in your new home, dust and debris will already be gathering in those ducts! For the price you’ve just paid for your new home, isn’t it worth just a little bit more to invest in clean air for your family to breathe?

It’s a New House… But Just How ‘New’ Is it?

It’s true, you probably wouldn’t take that new car to the car wash right away, or take your new suit straight to the dry cleaners. But new homes are different. A lot goes on during the home construction process, both in front of our eyes as well as behind the scenes. Before the ductwork even makes it to your homesite, it may have sat for months or even years in a warehouse. That right there makes it prone to dust. Once it’s brought into the construction site, the ductwork is installed – and then it sits again, possibly several weeks or even months.  This time, however, it’s not only dust that’s accumulating. Construction is taking place in and around the house.  Dirt and dust are getting kicked up into the air. And, with new home construction happening at breakneck pace, not all construction trades are as careful with their job site as they ought to be. Just what kind of things can get into ductwork during construction? Duct Cleaning For Your New Home

When is It Time To Clean Your Ducts?

Over time, ducts become littered with foreign objects such as dust, mould, dead insects, dust mites, and animal hair. Unfortunately, people often overlook cleaning their ducts, which can lead to problems.

Consequences Of Dirty Ducts

  1. Dirt and dust restrict the heating and cooling capability of ducts, which results in increased run time requiring more fuel and energy, therefore costing you more!
  2. Air flow is restricted, which means the system can’t effectively circulate properly warmed or cooled air throughout your home. Again, this means that more energy will be used.
  3. As your HVAC system needs to operate longer, it increases the wear and tear of it. This means you’ll need to replace it sooner, which would be a lot more expensive than just getting it cleaned.
  4. All the dirt and dust that is left in the ducts can become a breeding ground for bacteria, mites and other unwanted pests, which can be detrimental to your health and exacerbate allergies.
  5. The dirt and dust spreads much quicker around your home with dirty ducts, no matter how much you clean! The contaminants flow from room to room covering anything in their path, such as beds, tables, phones, and children’s toys.

How To Determine If Your Ducts Need Cleaning

You can attempt a visual inspection of the air ducts to help determine whether they need cleaning. However, you must be able to physically access ALL the areas of your HVAC system in order to do this properly. That is why we recommend you getting the professionals in to inspect the system, as with our high-resolution video inspection cameras, we can have a thorough look to determine whether your ducts need cleaning.

Determine The Type & Amount Of Debris Inside Your Ducts

It is inevitable that at some point ducts will get clogged with various types of debris and pollutants. This can consist of pollen, rodent and insect faeces, dust, dust mites, and lint. All of these MUST be removed to ensure the proper functionality of your ducts.
If you find mould growing inside or outside the surface of the ducts, a thorough moisture issue investigation needs to be quickly carried out to prevent any further complications. It is essential that you do not try to tackle mould in or out of the system yourself, but instead let the professionals do it on your behalf.

Clean The Duct Yourself Or Not

If dust, debris, pollens or moulds have accumulated to the point where they are clogging air ducts, collecting on dampers, joints and screws, then it is most certainly time to get those ducts PROFESSIONALLY cleaned. If you fail to do so the air flow will get restricted, affecting its efficiency in the long run and potentially causing premature failure of the whole system.

Is Replacing A Furnace Difficult?

I get this question quite often and the answer is no not for industry professionals like J.O.B Heating and Air Conditioning. We specialize in replacing furnaces, air conditioners and water heaters. In fact, many times we replace the furnace, air conditioner and water heater all in the same day. Our process is simple, you ask us to come in and offer you a quote for replacement. I will come over to your home at no charge (within a 30KM radius of Saskatoon), I will view your old furnace and equipment. Look over the venting options and make sure that there are no unforeseen hiccups. Sometimes these hiccups do happen but when we see them ahead of the install date and plan for them then it becomes a seamless replacement.

You want to be wary of the company that will offer you an estimate over the phone or the contractors that don't spend any time looking at your equipment or the install. They will say that they are "bonded" and you have nothing to fear. This may not always be the case. To be bonded simply means that in order to get as gas licence we need to put up a $5000 bond. Yes, that’s all that's required $5000.  This is why it is important to choose a contractor that would not only be licensed and bonded but would be part of professional groups such as the Sask Energy Network or Trusted Saskatoon.com. J.O.B Heating and Air Conditioning is very proud to be a part of both of these professional organizations.

Trusted Saskatoon Furnace and Duct Experts at Bridge City Duct Compare the Connection Between Allergies and Duct Cleaning

The Bridge City Duct Cleaning team know that cleaner air means healthier home, and with many years of experience in the HVAC industry, they are uniquely qualified! Be assured that Bridge City Duct Cleaning truly cares about the condition of your homes air quality as they see it for themselves every day, up close and personal. Bridge City Duct Cleaning is a Trusted Saskatoon Furnace and Duct Cleaning Company.

What's the Connection Between Allergies and Duct Cleaning?

Trusted Saskatoon Furnace and Duct cleaners at Bridge City Duct Cleaning have some advice in regards to the connection between allergies and duct cleaning. Could there be a connection between your sneezing and your HVAC ducts? Well, it wouldn’t be the first time that dirty ducts turn out to be the culprit behind air conditioning allergies.

The Link Between Allergies and Duct Cleaning

Does air duct cleaning reduce allergies? Consider this.
What happens when you blow the dust off an object? Often the airborne dust blows back at you. For those with allergies, what happens next is a sneezing fit.

When your HVAC blows air through ducts coated in dust, you end up with airborne dust in your home. So, it makes sense that cleaning dust, allergens and other contaminants from ducts could improve air quality and reduce allergy symptoms.

Poor air quality in your home or business can lead to a laundry list of nagging health issues. Is anyone complaining about eye, ear and throat irritations? Is there a lot of coughing and sneezing going on? How about headaches and dizziness? Well, dirty ducts can make the occupants of your place sick.

Contaminants Circulating Through Your Ducts

When considering allergies and duct cleaning, remember that all your indoor air circulates through your HVAC system and ductwork. Here’s a list of some of the undesirables that can be released into the air:

  • DUST MITES – It’s impossible to keep our homes dust-free when HVAC ducts are spewing out dust particles. Those particles quickly settle on surfaces. Dust is a big problem for allergy sufferers.
  • POLLEN – It’s tracked in on your clothes and shoes. It enters your home through open windows and doors. It’s another allergy sufferer’s enemy and it’s dispersed throughout your space by your HVAC system.
  • PET DANDER – We love our pets, but not everyone might share in our affection. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America estimates 3 in 10 people have allergic reactions to cats and dogs in the U.S. Your ductwork might be spreading dander throughout your space.
  • SMOG – If you think once you shut your door, you’re safe from outdoor pollutants, you’re wrong. Pollutants creep into your home. In fact, the EPA says indoor air is at least 2 to 5 times more polluted than outside!
  • VOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS – Most of us don’t think much about VOCs. But they’re all around us. VOCs are harmful gases that are given off by common household items. Cleaning fluids and even printers produce VOCs. Your HVAC system is circulating these VOCs through your ducts.
  • MOLD AND MILDEW – Moisture in your ducts can lead to mold and mildew. When looking into allergies and duct cleaning, if your ducts are moldy, duct cleaning is needed. Mold is responsible for many allergy symptoms.
  • BACTERIA AND VIRUSES – If bacteria and viruses get into your home, they can circulate throughout your indoor space via air ducts and make people sick. In the worst case, you could end up with Sick Building Syndrome.

Other Allergies and Ductwork Cleaning Concerns

Not all the nasty stuff circulating from your ducts will make you sick. Some problems associated with duct issues are more uncomfortable than dangerous. Dirty ducts can produce odours and hot and humid air.

What the EPA Says About Allergies and Ductwork Cleaning

While the EPA hasn’t offered a blanket endorsement on duct cleaning because of the lack of comprehensive information on allergies and ductwork cleaning, it has recommended that you consider duct cleaning in the following instances:

  • There is substantial visible mold growth on surfaces such as ducts or other components of your HVAC system.

  • Ducts are infested with rodent or insect vermin.

  • Ducts are clogged with excessive dust and debris and release these particles into your home from your supply registers

Reducing Allergies and Ductwork Cleaning Benefits

  1. Improve air quality by removing contaminants from ducts
  2. Eliminate odours by ridding your ducts of mold, mildew, rodent droppings and other nasty things.
  3. Reduce dust (one of the primary reasons for allergies and ductwork cleaning.) Not only from the air, but from your furniture and other surfaces.
  4. Increase HVAC system efficiency by unclogging your ducts of debris. If dust and other stuff coats ducts, it interferes with airflow. Reduced airflow causes your HVAC system to work longer and harder. Clean air ducts reduce energy cots and extend the life of your system.

Do You Need Duct Cleaning for Allergies? Call for Inspection.

Were your ducts were properly installed? Has your HVAC system been regularly maintained through a preventative maintenance contract? If so, air duct cleaning for allergies might not be necessary.

However, sometimes ducts become damaged. Pesky rodents can enter ducts and create havoc. Call an HVAC professional to assess whether you need to address allergies and duct cleaning.

Wondering about the connection between your allergies and ductwork cleaning? Choose an HVAC company experienced with ductwork cleaning and certified by the National Duct Cleaners Association, such as Arista Air.

Summer brings in a lot of dust, pet fur and dander and all sorts of allergens that can be trapped in duct work for weeks on end. This only comes out after the ducts and vents warm up and forced air blows this debris around your home or office. Avoid the mess and nuisance by getting the ductwork and vents professionally cleaned and serviced prior by your Trusted Saskatoon furnace and Duct Cleaners Bridge City Duct Cleaning.
