Q: Trish Planchot-Voldeng: We are looking for a vehicle for our daughter. She does a lot of highway driving to University. We need something that is reliable for winter, good mileage, sporty looking and at a reasonable price. What do you suggest?
A: Trish, I am a big fan of the Chevrolet Cruze, it is big inside, quick, quiet and rated over 50 miles to the gallon. It has ten air bags, onstar and fun to drive. Both my sons Justin and Taylor, his finance, drive a Cruze. Right now you can finance a new 2014 Criuze at 0% for 84 months or lease at 1.5% as student you get an extra discount.
Q: Sara Mann: What happens if you don't buy warranty with a new vehicle and you still have it a few years later and you want to get warranty then. Do kms matter? The shape of the vehicle? How do you go about getting it?
A: If you don’t buy warranty the day you pick up your new vehicle ... you can within the first 3 years as long it is it under 60,000km. Like insurance, it is cheaper the earlier you buy it. If you decide to buy extended warranty after 60,000km you can .. but it would have to be put through an inspection, have any issues corrected to pass the inspection and then registered as a certified vehicle ... there is some variations among brands and likely 2008 is as maximum age.
Q: Janette Korinetz: My husband has a remote car starter in his vehicle and heated seats, I have neither in my vehicle. He parks in the garage and I park outside. Do you think he is underutilizing his remote, over emphasizing his wife's good nature , or just very guarded with his garage boundaries there ? Thanks for your anticipated response gentlemen!
A: I can get you aftermarket heated seats and a remote starter in your car, so you can enjoy this Sask winter! For about $1200 you can get heated seats and a starter installed in most vehicles using some of our suppliers.
Q: Renee Rekman Jones: I'm a chevy lover from way back and currently own a 2013 Silverado but have seriously been considering switching over to a dodge ram because I like the power, roomier interior and look of the new dodges! What are the best features of the new 2014 Silverado in comparison to other trucks out there and are they worth sticking with Chevy for?
A: Everyone makes a good truck but I believe the ride, warranty, great fuel economy, fit and finish, Onstar safety along with many other features make the new 2014 Chevrolet Silverado a great choice. Come for a test drive and be ready to be impressed.
Q: Terri Davies McMillan: What midsize SUV has the highest overall safety rating?
A: The Equinox, Trax and Traverse all safe vehicles with the Traverse rated the highest. Did you know Chevrolet Trax LTZ comes with 10 airbags!
Q: Debbi Gola: If I were to "customize" a vehicle that is still under warranty, would this make the warranty null & void?
A: No the warranty would not be voided but if any of the modifications resulted in a failure of a component it would not be covered. If customizing is done we recommend using GM accessories because they will not void any warranties and if they are installed at the time of purchase they will carry the full 3 year 60,000km warranty.
Q: Kathy Peters Hamm: Why when it gets colder than minus -15 and colder does my van stall when stopping at lights and stop signs? Its a 1998 dodge grand caravan sport no one can figure this one out
A: I’m sorry this is one I can’t answer, I would recommend taking to and authorize Dodge dealer for diagnosis.
Q: Brandi Rae: What's causing my 2004 GMC Envoy to burn so much gas? I changed the spark plugs and air filter, that didn't help at all.
AThere are many things that can affect fuel economy so it is not easy to answer. Items like clogged fuel injectors, dirty mass air flow sensor and old oxygen sensors can all be factors. The best thing to do is bring it in to SMP and have us diagnose possible causes.
Q: Ann Lyte-Maille: When buying a used vehicle what kind of warranties would there be? like so many miles more or 90 days or something?
A: All our certified pre-owned vehicles come with a 30 day/2500km Exchange Privilege, 150+ point inspection, 3 month/5000km manufacturer’s warranty, 24hr roadside Assistance
Q: Ada Shauf Porrelli: Which SUV or midsize car would get the best mileage for mostly in City driving?
A: Our Chevy Volt, drive under 60km a day and buy no gas. Other models including Chev Trax and Cruze are rated over 30mpg in town.
Q: Vanessa Decae: Being an import car owner, can you give me some great reasons to consider purchasing domestic the next time I buy a vehicle ? I am in the market and need a big "nudge " to go back to domestic!!
A: Vanessa, everyone makes good cars. I like General Motors the best because of the large dealer base so you are not spending your holiday in a hotel room waiting for parts. Replacement parts are normally cheaper and more accessible. We also offer ONSTAR, which could be worth a million dollars to you in an emergency. Did you know with Onstar if you car goes missing ... it can be located in minutes. Our warranty includes a 5 year 160,000km power train warranty. The fit, finish, fuel economy and ride are also good reasons. With our oil life monitor you will likely only have to change only 2x a year and with our 2014 Models oil changes are n/c for first 2 years. Come for a test drive, we’ll appreciate the opportunity to show you a new Chevrolet and you be the judge.
