In their latest tip, they share tips on how to save money on your utility bills. Gibbon Heating and Air Conditioning are TRUSTED SASKATOON Air Conditioning & Furnace Professionals.

SAVE MONEY ON YOUR UTILITY BILLS

Prices are on the rise - fuel, groceries and now your utility bills. Every Saskatoon and area homeowner is looking for ways to save money on their utility bills. The good thing is that there are dozens of cash saving techniques available to all, ranging from simple usage changes to the installation of new efficient appliances. The good thing to remember is that money-saving plumbing tactics all save dough.

Lower Water Temperature on Water Heater

There’s no doubt that a hot shower does wonder to soothe a person, especially after a long day of work or a night out in the cold. That being said, how much more relaxing is a 140-degree bath than a 120-degree one? By default, most hot water heaters come from the manufacturer with a temperature setting of 140 degrees. This is partly to astound the customer when they feel how instantly warm the water is and also to eliminate the slight risk of passing on legionella bacteria. By turning down the water heater to 120-degrees, a homeowner can expect to save up to 10 per cent on energy costs and reduce the risk of scalding.

Use Low-Flow Faucets

We’ve all been preached to about how much money goes literally down the drain when the water is left running while brushing teeth in the morning. Most of us have curbed that bad habit but we can make the morning and evening routine even more energy-friendly with the use of low flow faucets. These devices can reduce water usage by 20-50 per cent a year by either mixing air within the water or lowering the output from around 2.2 gallons per minute down to 1.5.

Use Flood Detectors

There are devices that sell for around $20 that can be hooked up to appliances such as a washing machine to detect leaks and overflow, and subsequently, shut off the device or shut down the water supply. These small units provide sound peace of mind when you start a load of wash and leave the house and could save thousands of dollars in damage if a washer were to overflow and drip down into the drywall of the room below.

Replace / Repair a Leaky Toilet

Another drain on your energy bills is a leaky toilet. A toilet that is constantly dripping or refills every 20 minutes can waste up to 7,000 gallons a month. It can take as little as $3 to fix a bad flapper and can save you up to $840 in a year. If you replace that toilet altogether with a low flow model the savings can be well over $1000 in a single year.

Get a Plumbing Inspection

Have Gibbon Heating and Air Condition examine the plumbing throughout your home so you can see if you’re losing water (thus money) through leaks, blockage, or other inhibitors. By finding and fixing leaks early, you not only save money but limit the chances of catastrophic damage down the line. They will also check to make sure shutoff valves and sump pumps work just in case of an emergency.

These are a few tips to save money on your utility bills.

Trusted Saskatoon Air Conditioning & Furnace Pros at Gibbon Have Summer HVAC Tips!

They are a "total service" company with trained technicians who are able to provide customers with solutions to all their plumbing, air conditioning, and heating (HVAC) related requirements. As an Independent Lennox Premier Dealer, the Gibbon Heating and Air Conditioning team are proud to provide prompt, courteous, and professional service that is required by Lennox’s Quality standards. They are trained to design, install, service, and maintain home comfort and indoor air quality systems in Saskatoon. In their latest tip, they share tips to minimize strain on your HVAC system this summer. Gibbon Heating and Air Conditioning are TRUSTED SASKATOON Air Conditioning & Furnace Professionals.

TIPS TO MINIMIZE STRAIN ON YOUR HVAC SYSTEM THIS SUMMER

Saskatchewan summer is around the corner, and having a well-functioning HVAC system to keep your home cool is essential. Here are some tips to minimize strain and help keep your system running efficiently all summer long.

Leave The AC On Even When You Are Not Home

It is often thought that turning off your AC when you leave your home can save you money. However, this is not the case. Turning off your AC will only cause the unit to have to work harder to achieve the set temperature once it is turned on again. In addition, turning off your AC will increase humidity, creating condensation issues.

Programmable thermostats regulate the temperature of your home while you are away. All you have to do is set them so that the temperature is higher during the hours you will be away, and lower for the hours you will be home. Programmable thermostats help minimize strain on your HVAC system and save you money.

Ensure Windows And Doors Remain Shut

When windows and doors are left open, hot air is able to enter the home. Allowing this hot air in will create more work for your HVAC unit that is already working overtime. Not to mention, open windows and doors allow for pollutants and allergens to enter the home easily which does not foster a healthy environment.

Change Filters Regularly To Ensure Cleanliness

When air filters are dirty, less air is able to flow through. As a result, your system must work harder to cool the home. When airflow is restricted by a dirty filter, less air passes through the evaporator coil. This puts your system at risk for the coil to freeze as there is less heat for the coil to absorb.

Do Not Shut Too Many Registers

Since the duct system in your home is designed to circulate air at a certain pressure, it is very important the registers remain open. Shutting registers means the system has to work harder, it does not reduce the amount of air the system is creating. Shutting registers will overwork your HVAC system, which will not prolong its longevity.

Ensure Annual Maintenance Is Complete

Remember that you are not always the expert when it comes to your HVAC system, and you don’t need to be! Calling a professional for your regular maintenance will ensure all system components are clean, and that the system is in good working order for the summer months.

These are a few tips to minimize strain on your HVAC system to help keep your home cool. Following these tips will ensure you and your family stay comfortable this summer. Trust Gibbon to satisfy all your air conditioning needs. When it comes to air conditioning, Gibbon offers a full line of services including new installation, repair, and general maintenance. Be sure to schedule a seasonal maintenance appointment for your air conditioning system before the warmer months hit by contacting Gibbon Heating & Air Conditioning.

Trusted Saskatoon Furnace Experts at JOB Heating and Air Conditioning Explain Why Your Furnace is Blowing Cold Air

They are recognized by peers and offer sales, service, training & installations for residential, and commercial Heating, Cooling, and Plumbing systems in Saskatoon and the surrounding area. JOB Heating & Air are Trusted Saskatoon Furnace and Air Conditioning Experts. In their latest article, they discover reasons why your furnace is blowing cold air.

Is Your Furnace Blowing Cold Air?

This may be a sign that your furnace requires attention. Read on to discover reasons why your furnace is blowing cold air.

Your Furnace Has Not Warmed Up

Whenever it is the beginning of a heating cycle, you will get a blast of cold air when you turn on your furnace. Much like when you first turn on a faucet, cold water is going to flow out at first rather than hot. As your furnace warms up, it must first push out the cold air before warm air will blow out of your vents. If your furnace blows cold air briefly, this is likely the explanation. However, if warm air does not follow the cold air after a few minutes, it is time to call in an expert.

The Thermostat Setting Is Incorrect

Ensure the thermostat is set to “AUTO” instead of “ON”. When the thermostat is set to “ON”, the fan will continuously run even when the furnace is not in a heating cycle. This means that the fan will blow cold air throughout your home, instead of warm. The thermostat should always be on “AUTO” to ensure that the fan will only blow during a heating cycle.

The Flame Sensor Is Dirty

The flame sensor detects whether or not your furnace’s gas burners are lit. A dirty flame sensor will keep the gas burner from staying lit, and cause the burners to shut off. This results in cold air blowing from the vents, as the furnace does not have a heat source. Unless you are familiar with furnaces, a dirty flame sensor should always be cleaned by a professional to restore heat.

Your Furnace's Pilot Light Is Out

Especially if your furnace is older, cold air is a sign that the pilot light is out. If you are comfortable doing so, follow your furnace’s instructions on how to relight it. If the flame goes out again after a few minutes, contact a professional as technical work is likely necessary.

Your Furnace's Air Filter Is Clogged

When the air filter is clogged, airflow is restricted. Restricted airflow can cause your furnace to overheat. When your furnace overheats, this shuts down the burner resulting in cold air. Always replace a dirty air filter to ensure your furnace is functioning properly.

These are a few possible reasons why your furnace is blowing cold air. Be sure to schedule your routine furnace maintenance to ensure your furnace is safe to operate this winter. If you need any assistance with your furnace or home heating equipment, do not hesitate to contact our team at JOB Heating & Air Conditioning.

JOB Heating & Air Conditioning Trusted Saskatoon Furnace, A/C and Plumbing Pros For 10 Years

In this series of articles, we are shining a spotlight on the businesses that have been with us since we launched in 2011. We want to thank them for TRUSTING our team, and we are recognizing each of them individually for providing 10 years of OUTSTANDING service to the public of Saskatoon and surrounding areas! In this article, we celebrate and recognize Jeff and the team at JOB Heating & Air Conditioning - Trusted Saskatoon Furnace, A/C, and Saskatoon Plumbing Pros!

We are pleased to celebrate JOB Heating & Air Conditioning who have been a Trusted Saskatoon partner for over 10 years!

The JOB Heating & Air Conditioning team is well known for the air conditioning, furnace, and plumbing work they do for both residential and commercial customers. Jeff Bolton, worked up from employee to partner and he is now the trusted face of the company which currently has six employees. Jeff has been in the HVAC and Plumbing industry since 1989. With this many years of plumbing and heating expertise under his belt, he has a clear vision and commitment to always putting the customer and his community first. Spending many years as a volunteer, serving the community's greatest needs has given Jeff the right balance of drive and determination to always do the right thing. He has a really big heart and is dedicated to always putting the customer's needs first, he prides himself on JOB’s record of integrity, honesty, and service, and he takes being trusted very seriously.

As Jeff would say…”I do what I say, and say what I do!”

“One of Jeff’s biggest challenges over the years has been competing with kijiji’s plumbers and other HVAC companies that don’t abide by reasonable industry standards or even properly insure or register their businesses. Companies that are often run by folks that over promise and under deliver, they often undercut on price to get the job and end up not delivering on the service. Many try to make it up by high pressure sales on work or products the customer may not need. This is the total opposite of how Jeff and his team operates and as someone who was ripped off by an unscrupulous company myself I am wary. I am happy to say that I have used JOB personally several times over the last 10 years and the experience is always stellar."
- Sara Wheelwright, Trusted Founder

The JOB Heating & Air team also prides itself on being recognized as a leader in water heating system technology for new in-floor and boiler installations in Saskatoon. Jeff is passionate about what he does and his enthusiasm is infectious. What you see truly is what you get with Jeff, he is authentic and cares deeply about always leaving a good impression with clients and it is obvious that he values and supports his team, that’s why he wanted to create a business where people love to work!

When asked about what drives Jeff, he explains his mantra around the shop is.

“We do every job as if it was our own mother’s house. We treat each other (my coworkers) with respect and dignity and that just becomes the way that we treat everyone, especially our customers.”

A great example of why JOB Heating & Air Conditioning has been a 10 Year Trusted Saskatoon Partner.
