Trusted Saskatoon Security Experts REED Security Talk Doorbell Security Cameras

See and Hear Visitors at Your Front Door

Your front doorway is a busy place. With visitors introducing themselves, your kids charging to and from the school bus, packages arriving, and hellos and goodbyes galore, it's hard for you to keep track of everyone who passes through. It's no wonder that doorbell cameras are now a smart home must-have, thanks to their ability to show you who's at the door, no matter where you are. And with a ReedHD™ Doorbell Camera, that's just the start.

Because these doorbell cameras are fully integrated into your smart home security system, they're powered by Alarm.com and able to cooperate with other devices. That gives you and your family more ways to incorporate your doorbell camera into your everyday life.

Answer Your Door From Anywhere

A ReedHD™ Doorbell Camera gives you a safe, smart way to see who's at the door, no matter where you are. When a visitor rings the doorbell, you get an Alarm.com smartphone alert. Open your Alarm.com app and you'll see a video feed of who's there, with a microphone icon that you can press to start a voice conversation through the doorbell.

Although you can see your visitor, they can't see you, and you don't need to indicate whether you're home or not. Given that burglars often ring a home's doorbell before a break-in, this makes your video doorbell a great crime deterrent.

Protect a Package from Thieves

With a smart lock included in your Alarm.com-powered setup, you can go a step further and unlock your door remotely. This is great for protecting valuable deliveries that would otherwise be left on your porch.

If you have a smart lock, you'll see an ‘unlock' icon in your app underneath your doorbell's video feed. Once you've verified the delivery person visually, tap once to unlock your door and ask them to leave the package inside. When they're done, use your app to lock your door and watch them leave.

See and Share Suspicious Activity.

A ReedHD™ Doorbell Camera is also a full smart home security camera, ready to capture and send you footage of suspicious activity in your front yard or porch area.

A visitor to your porch will trigger a motion-activated video recording, even if they don't press the doorbell. You can have these clips delivered to your phone right away, where they're easy to download and forward to your partner, neighbours or local police department.

Keep Up With Your Kids

Crooks and intruders aside, most activity at your front door is ‘good' activity: friends visiting and family arriving home. Reed makes it easy to keep up. It's easy to create a custom doorbell camera alert, triggered by your kids' Alarm.com user codes, that sends you a video clip of your kids arriving home every day. It's a great way to make sure they're home safe and know who they're with. Once the kids know they're on camera, they might even give you a wave.

PS: It's Also a Doorbell

Sometimes, you just need a doorbell. You'll be pleased to hear that a ReedHD™ Doorbell Camera goes above and beyond, with both an audible chime and a special ‘Do Not Disturb' option that parents of young children will love. Instead of waking a napping youngster with an audible chime when pushed, your video doorbell will simply trigger a silent smartphone alert that only disturbs you.

Is it Time For You To Upgrade to a ReedHD™ Doorbell Camera?

If you already have an Alarm.com-powered smart home security system, Reed Security can quickly upgrade you with a doorbell camera or other smart devices, including indoor and outdoor video cameras, smart locks and even a smart thermostat.

Why Your Air Conditioner Is Not Cooling

An A/C unit that’s not cooling your home is a big problem. After all, that’s its one job.

When your A/C doesn’t perform as it should, it can be frustrating, time-consuming, and very hot.

There are several reasons your air conditioner may be failing to perform. The experts at JOB are going to walk through each one – and how best to fix it.

1. Your Thermostat Isn’t Cooperating

Your first stop is your thermostat. You should make sure that your thermostat is not only set to ‘ON’ but that it is set to ‘COOL’. Test that it’s working by setting the thermostat several degrees cooler than the stated temperature. You want to feel that chill!

If you can hear the air conditioner running, but minutes later still don’t feel any cool air coming through the vents, there could be something wrong with your thermostat and its electrical wiring. Fixing that problem is best left to a professional. You should also make sure all your windows and doors are sealed shut and your supply and return vents are open and unblocked. Little things like this are easy to forget about but super easy to fix.

2. A Breaker Has Been Tripped

This tip is only for those homeowners whose air conditioners are not running. Your A/C runs on electricity. No electricity going to your air conditioner means no cool air, making your home a summer paradise. It’s time to travel to the location of your breaker panel and do a check. The breakers for your air conditioner should be clearly labelled. Flip them off and on again, and see if this makes a difference.

3. Your Air Filter Is Clogged

Just because your air filter is located in your furnace’s blower doesn’t mean your air conditioner doesn’t use it. Your furnace’s air handler is what pushes the cooled air through the filter, through your ductwork, and into your home.

Therefore, if your air filter becomes clogged with dirt and debris, it’ll act like a cork in a bottle: little to nothing is getting past it. Jeff at JOB recommends checking your filter once a month and changing it at least every three months—more often if you have hairy pets, allergies, or a lot of people living in your home. Air filters can be found at local hardware and home stores. Make sure you replace your current filter with one the same size.

4. Your Outdoor Unit is Coated in Dirt and Debris

Sensing a theme here? Dirt is no friend to an air conditioner. Your air conditioner condenser is located outside your home and exposed to the elements when used. After a while, all that wind and rain is bound to blow dirt and debris into it. If there’s too much dirt, your condenser can’t perform the heat exchange process efficiently. There are things you can do to help with this particular problem.

For example, tidying up the landscaping around your condenser will help keep branches, bushes, and other vegetation from adding to the debris buildup. Jeff at JOB  recommends keeping about 46 centimetres of space clear on all sides of your condenser. You should also wash your condenser regularly with water and soap. Gently wipe away dirt from the condenser fins, being very careful that they don’t break. In the offseason, ensure your condenser has a cover and is secured tightly.

5. Houston, We Have a Mechanical Problem

While annual maintenance is an excellent way to reduce the risk of mechanical breakdowns, they can still happen. Whether it’s a broken fan motor or compressor, a mechanical problem could be the reason your A/C is not cooling properly. If you suspect a mechanical problem, you should call JOB right away.

6. The Refrigerant in Your Air Conditioner is Leaking

Air conditioners use continuously circulating refrigerant to cool air. Usually, the refrigerant level never changes, and your air conditioner is perfectly fine. If you spring a leak, that refrigerant level drops – and so does the amount of cool air you get. Refrigerant leaks can be identified by ice buildup, hissing noises, or a noticeable decrease in cooling efficiency. If you have a refrigerant leak, turn off your air conditioner and call us immediately. This is a problem that should only be handled by experienced professionals.

7. Your AC Wasn’t Properly Installed

Unfortunately, this is seen constantly with air conditioners and furnaces. An improperly installed air conditioner won’t efficiently provide the cool air you need. This is something you’ll notice after you get a new air conditioner. They can give you a second opinion and do what they can to fix any potential problems. The size of your air conditioner is also essential. If it’s too big or too small, you won’t be able to cool your home efficiently. Before buying an air conditioner, meet with a qualified home specialist who can evaluate and make recommendations.

8. Your Air Conditioner is Over the Hill

There comes a day when even the best air conditioner in the world gets too old. Generally, after 15 years, you want to start paying close attention to your air conditioner's performance. If it gets to a point where you’re spending hundreds of dollars a year to keep it going, or your A/C is not cooling your home at all, it’s time for a replacement. The experts at JOB can perform an in-home consultation and walk you through the latest models, making recommendations for your home and needs.

Trusted Saskatoon Contractors K & S Contracting Discuss Home Foundations

K & S Contracting specializes in foundation repair for homeowners across Saskatchewan. In addition, they also offer general contracting services to Saskatoon and the surrounding area. In their latest Trusted Saskatoon tip, K & S Contracting, Trusted Saskatoon General Contractors, and foundation specialists, discuss your home foundation.

Pay Attention to Your Foundation While Living in Saskatchewan

As a homeowner, you probably tend to prioritize home repairs based on how soon they need to be addressed. If your kitchen faucet is spraying water all over the room, for example, that’s something you’ll try to fix as soon as possible. If a tree branch falls and punches a hole through your roof, that’s something else you’ll probably work on right away.

On the other hand, if you start to notice tiny cracks developing in your foundation, you might not jump to fix them immediately. After all, all homes are expected to move a little from our adverse weather conditions to clay expanding or contracting up six inches with the fluctuation of moisture content. What’s more, a tiny crack that appears in your concrete doesn’t mean your house is in danger of falling anytime soon, does it? Basement crack repair may be one of those things you’d file under “keep an eye on it” rather than “call someone tomorrow,” but that can be the wrong idea.

Why Pay Attention to Your Foundation Living in Saskatchewan

With the weather extremes that we experience in Saskatchewan, from a 40-degree temperature swing in a matter of days to expanding clay that is affected by moisture in ways we never thought possible, home foundation repair is critical for your house. It should be taken care of as soon as possible. Although a few cracks in the foundation might not seem like a big deal, think of them as warning signs of something much more serious to come. Your home’s foundation may not be in any danger of crumbling to dust in the immediate future, but any signs that you may need foundation crack repair should be acted upon immediately if you want to avoid major foundation problems later.

Here are some of the best reasons why you always need to make foundation repair a high priority:

It Saves You Time and Money

Perhaps the most important reason to have your foundation repairs made sooner rather than later is cost. Although foundation repair may cost more than you’re expecting, it only gets worse when you wait. In addition to labour and material costs continuing to rise, the longer you wait to fix cracks in your foundation, the worse they will get. This is especially true if you’re planning on selling your home or making any significant home improvements. Ignoring the need for foundation repairs now will only make those projects much harder and result in more-expensive work to be done.

If you suspect you may need a foundation in Saskatchewan or wherever you are, it’s not a good idea to hesitate. The longer you wait for foundation repair, the more complicated and expensive those repairs are likely to be. Even if you think you have time to get that work done, don’t wait.

Trusted Saskatoon Realtor Clark Dziadyk Shares Summer Lawn Care And Curb Appeal Tips

Whether you’re buying a house for the first time, the second, or the seventh time, it’s still one of the biggest decisions you ever have to make. In order to ensure sheer success, you need Trusted Saskatoon Realtor Clark Dziadyk! Clark will ease your mind by taking the pressure off of you to find your dream home! Be assured Saskatoon Real Estate Agent Clark Dziadyk Clark puts 100% effort into everything he does. Don’t you hate it when the grass is greener at your next door neighbour’s place? This summer you could have the lawn that turns everyone’s eyes green with envy and admiration, but you’ve got to get on it right now! Follow these tips to grow the best lawn.

Summer Lawn Care Increases Your Homes Curb Appeal

1. Inspect The Lawn Regularly

Inspect your lawn and note any spots that need special attention. If you notice brown patches, you

need to act quickly to identify the disease so you can treat it. If the entire lawn is somewhat

flattened from winter weather, call in an aeration service. Those little holes in the lawn will last just

long enough to loosen up the soil and allow better water and nutrient absorption.

2. Rake Your Lawn

Rake any dead spots and reseed using a variety of grass seeds to match the rest of your lawn. For

larger areas that may have been damaged by snow plows, for example, you can remove entire

sections and replace with sod. If you notice areas where there has been a lot of soil erosion, mulch

beds are a good way to shore up future runoffs.

3. Fertilize Your Lawn

Apply a slow-release fertilizer to feed the grass over weeks. Pick a day that’s not windy and check to make sure there’s no rain in the immediate forecast to keep the fertilizer where you want it. Dispose of any leftover fertilizer appropriately, as you would household chemicals like paint.

4. Water Your Lawn

Make sure to water deeply, not daily. Deep watering will encourage a healthy root system. Whether you drag the hose out in the morning or have an automatic sprinkler system, set a watering schedule. Your lawn needs an inch to an inch and a half of water a week.

5. Lawnmower Maintenance

Keep mower blades sharp and balanced for clean cuts and change the pattern every time you mow so grass blades will stand up straight. Remember to let your grass clippings fall where they may, and remain there. “Grasscycling” returns nutrients to the soil, allowing them to fertilize the lawn. Proper lawn care prevents the most common lawn problems from getting out of control. Keeping the grass at the right length will help keep it healthy and keep weeds at bay.

6. Rake & Weed Your Lawn

When autumn arrives, and the leaves begin to fall, don’t wait for large amounts to pile up. Remove

leaves often, so they don’t get a chance to become wet and sticky. Blankets of wet leaves can

create a fungal problem that will plague your lawn long after the last snow falls.

Set yourself up for another lovely lawn the following spring and summer by doing some weed control now, and an application of fertilizer for nutrients to feed your grass throughout the cold

season.

Keep in mind that if you plan to sell your home, having a nice lawn is crucial. But the homes that show the best have more than just end-to-end grass. The right shade trees will also protect your lawn and keep your house cooler this summer.

Notice summer lawn care doesn’t just cover June through September. By preparing your lawn well in advance of the summer heat, you’ll have a yard that will withstand the stress of summer and thrive through the fall.

A Great Gym Tip From Trusted Saskatoon Fitness & Gym Experts at Fitness Focus

At Fitness Focus, the goal is to offer a fitness center with a welcoming, fun, and safe environment that all ages can enjoy. They are a forerunner in the fitness industry in Saskatoon. With the ever-changing fitness demands of new and improved classes, training, and nutrition. They are your TRUSTED SASKATOON FITNESS EXPERTS!

This Fitness Focus Trusted Tip is About Gym Memberships

Starting a gym membership can be exciting but also intimidating. Here are some Trusted Tips on taking that first step and finding the right gym for you.

  • Whether you have tried a fitness regimen before or you’re starting at the gym for the very first time, before you choose a fitness center, you have to start with a goal. Without a goal you’ll have nothing to work towards, making the effort you put in seems like a total waste. Make your goal reasonable, attainable, and specific; and make sure you know the route to attaining it.

  • It’s important to find a gym with an atmosphere that suits you. If you’re not comfortable in the gym, you won’t enjoy your experience, and then it won’t be long until you start to abandon your routine and your goals. See if the gym will offer you a trial pass or “test drive” that gives you enough time to feel it out and see if it’s the right fit for you.

  • Pay attention to the not-so-obvious amenities when you’re looking into a new club. Big windows for natural light, what kind of music they play, and the cleanliness of the facility including washrooms and training area, a wide variety of equipment, and knowledgeable staff. Sometimes it’s these subtleties you might not have noticed at first but they can be the difference that makes it a club you want to make your home for years to come.

  • Convenience! Is the club close to your house or work? If your gym is not easy to get to, you might not use it as much as you had planned. A gym within a stone’s throw of your home can be great, but also consider one that’s close to your workplace. This gives the option to get your workout in during your lunchtime or to avoid the traffic on the commute home after work.

  • Once you have made your decision to join, make sure you read your membership agreement form. There are a lot of standard points on a membership form but many disclosures can change from gym to gym. First, pay attention to membership cancellation policies, sometimes these can be very strict which might not be a problem if you plan to be there for a few years. Watch out for unexpected annual fees; these should be explained in your membership. Ask if there is a membership freeze option and the cost of it. This allows you to suspend payments of your membership in the event you can’t use it due to injury or inability to make use of your membership for a short period.
If you're looking for a gym in Saskatoon and have never tried Fitness Focus, check them out! Experience the great atmosphere, people, and all the major amenities Fitness Focus offers. They offer a weight room, cardio theatre, group fitness classes, tanning, towel service, lockers, and more.
