Glenwood Auto Service Supports Teen Challenge

Dennis Smail started with Teen Challenge 14 years ago and implemented a 12 month strategy to turn the program around. The Teen Challenge program supports men and women that are 18 years old and up to be able to turn their life around. These men and women are involved in drug or alcohol abuse, prostitution or other crimes. Teen Challenge runs a men’s and women’s program to provide these people with a place to stay that is safe and provides them the support they need to change the direction of their life in a positive way. They live on site and over 50% of men and women that are part of the program stay clean and become ambassadors for the program.

Dennis estimated that Glenwood Auto Service’s support of the program for over the last ten years would be valued at over $150,000! This is what Dennis had to say about Rob Scott, owner of Glenwood Auto Service:

“Rob is committed to supporting the program, he is the first guy into the shop and last one to leave and takes pride in his business.”

Dennis has also been a customer of Glenwood Auto for over 15 years and he said that “Quality lives long after price is forgotten.” He feels grateful to be able to work with Rob on the Teen Challenge program and refer to him as a friend.

So what does Glenwood Auto do to support the program?

Glenwood Auto Service gives complimentary service for the Teen Challenge 10 passenger vans and other vehicles used for the program. They also make donations through gifts in kind. Rob and the Glenwood Auto team's support has helped the program to be able to continue to run. This allowed the Teen Challenge staff to use funds and donations for assisting the men and women that are part of the program as opposed to fixing vehicles. They are currently building a new women’s facility out by Hague!

After speaking with Rob about his involvement he was, as usual, very modest. He said, “This program helps encourage a better community and supports these kids to have a better future by getting back on the right foot!”

Crestview Auto Trusted Saskatoon Tire and Auto Repair Expert shares a tip on Cabin Air Filters

Let's face it, most of us do not think about the tires on our vehicles until we run into a problem....and that problem may be a major inconvenience at best; an accident at worst. Having your vehicle serviced by people that you trust is an absolute must. Let Don and the highly trained technicians at Crestview Auto Service work with you to make sure your vehicle is ready for the road.

Here they share a tip on your cabin air filter:

To change or not to change?

Cabin air filters are found on most late-model vehicles. The filter cleans the air that comes into the interior through the heating, ventilation and air conditioning system (HVAC). It catches dust, pollen and other airborne material to make your car’s interior cleaner and healthier even more important if you have allergies or other respiratory problems, which can make riding in a car unpleasant. Some have added activated charcoal to the filtering element. These do not just filter particulates, but also odors and some common exhaust gasses.

Some signs that you need a new cabin air filter are reduced airflow through your HVAC system, such as when you turn the fan onto high speed and you get more noise than increased airflow. If you drive in heavy traffic, an area that has poor air quality, or dusty conditions you could need to replace the filter annually or even more often. Recommendations on when it should be replaced vary by manufacturer and depend on your driving conditions.

Many cabin air filters are located behind the glove box and are easily accessible by freeing the glove box from its fasteners. Others are located under the dashboard and may not be easy to reach, or under the hood where fresh air enters the HVAC system.

Crestview Auto Service Trusted Saskatoon Tire and Auto Repair Expert shares a tip on Winter Driving in Saskatchewan

Here they share a tip on Winter Driving in Saskatchewan:

How well did you prepare your vehicle for winter? Here are some things to remember and some tips to help ready yourself for a winter trip. Plan to be safe this winter when you are out on the road, reducing the stress of winter driving.

Have your vehicle inspected and serviced to be sure you won’t break down in the cold. Winter conditions with snow, cold and icy roads demand that a vehicle be in top condition. For this reason, a winter readiness inspection is a necessity, and in the end is less annoying and less costly than battery boosts, calling a tow truck, being late and those unplanned hotel stays half way to your destination.

Before it’s too late and you’re on the side of the road or worse, stopped in the middle of the road, give us a call, e-mail or book online to set up an appointment for your vehicle. You will know the condition of your vehicle and what needs to be done for safe winter driving.

Having a block heater on your car and using it when temperatures are colder than -150c is the least expensive way to prevent engine damage from cold winter starts; just make sure you unplug before driving away.

Remember; daytime running lights on your vehicle usually only have the headlights on, not the park lights. They provide less light than when you turn the lights on yourself. At dusk or inclement weather you need to turn the lights on manually so others can see you from the front and the back; swirling snow, fog and cloudy days make it difficult to see and to be seen.

Tips before you head out on the road each day:

  • Unplug the car.
  • Brush the snow off your car.
  • Scrape the windshield, rear and side windows.
  • Clear your heater air intake (this is usually between the windshield and the hood).
  • Clean your headlights, tail lights and signal lights.
  • Be sure to clear your tissue boxes, sunglasses, papers, etc., away from defroster outlets or your windows won’t clear properly.

Crestview Auto TRUSTED SASKATOON TIRE and AUTO REPAIR EXPERT shares two Myths

Let's face it, most of us do not think about the tires on our vehicles until we run into a problem....and that problem may be a major inconvenience at best; an accident at worst. Having your vehicle serviced by people that you trust is an absolute must. Let Don and the highly trained technicians at Crestview Auto Service work with you to make sure your vehicle is ready for the road.

Crestview Auto Service is your Trusted Saskatoon Tire Expert and they also offer full Auto Service and Repair in Saskatoon

Here the Experts share a couple Myths with us:

Myth 1: To maintain my warranty I can only have my car serviced at a dealership.

Service at a dealer is not mandatory to keep your warranties in effect. Maintenance may be done by any qualified service facility or by a person who is skilled in automotive service. Keep all receipts as proof of completion, and have the service provider fill out the Maintenance Record...

Myth 2: Paint chips and nicks don't affect my warranty.

To keep your new vehicle paint and corrosion warranty valid, have dents, scratches and collision damaged panels inspected and repaired. New cars have a minimum five-year rust perforation warranty. Unprotected panels that cause rust will not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty...
