Everything in the world seems to go through an evolution, even windmills!  Find Local Labour is no exception. As you may have noticed, they have a new name and logo! Find Local Labour is a new addition to TrustedSaskatoon.com as they are a Trusted Saskatoon Recruitment Service. They recently began working with the Trusted Team and they are following some recommendations that include; a new name (Find Local Labour), a new logo, a new website - with a great new look (coming soon), and new email addresses, etc.  It is still a work in progress so please bear with them...hopefully they can make it seamless for users.  Find Local Labour will maintain forwarding of all old email addresses and website links forever, so don't worry about updating your records immediately.  Going forward, the company name is now Find Local Labour.


Find Local Labour Owner Rory Perron Tips to Encourage Millenials


Adults, parents, and society have a way of passing on a somewhat cynical attitude to the next generation.  When kids hear the low probability of becoming a professional athlete often enough, they adjust their attitude and goals downward accordingly.  How many times have you heard how bad the Millennial generation is? They hear it too and start adjusting their lives accordingly.  I recently heard about a Millennial that had already given up on ever buying a house because he felt he had no chance as a Millennial.  Many Millennials are giving up on life itself...  Are we contributing to a suicide problem by constantly trash talking Millennials? Perhaps it is time to start encouraging them instead of bashing them?

How Do We Encourage Millenials? 


Here are some thoughts from owner Rory Perron himself.

1. I generally keep my personal life to myself but I have a general desire to help people. So, if I can help some people by sharing some of my personal experience, I guess I will share. Last month, at 49 years old, I completed my first sprint distance triathlon. I am proud of myself because I achieved a goal that I had set for myself. (I am not looking for kudos from anyone, #SaskHumble.) Our next generation also needs to be proud of themselves. That's what makes them take pride in their work, makes them productive citizens, helps them feel good about life, and gives them a sense of purpose = positive mental health. Goals are the starting point. 

Here is a peek at some of Rory Perron's goals:


Fitness Goals:


  • Complete a Triathlon Sprint distance (short distance) --> DONE!
  • Complete a Triathlon Olympic distance (medium distance) --> Currently training for it this year
  • Complete a Triathlon Iron-Man distance (long distance) --> Before he turns 60 years old

Business Goals: 

  • Build a business for 10 years and sell it --> Done (but it took 18 years.)
  • Build a business 100 times bigger in half of the time --> Working on it


I think you get the picture - Can we support the development of goals? (bigger and bigger goals? Or S-M-A-R-T goals?) He has given examples of his fitness and business goals, but goals in relationships and spirituality or fulfillment also need to be nurtured. And, it is OK to dream BIG!


    2. The recommended dosage of positive to negative commentary is five to one.  People need approximately five positive reinforcement comments for every one constructive criticism.  Let’s get on with the positive reinforcement by offering five suggestions about how to succeed in every one pitfall to watch out for.  Let's pass out five compliments before pointing out a problem.

    3. I had a "down day" a few weeks ago.  I was having a hard time motivating myself to be productive and I doubted myself about everything I was doing.  I decided to make myself an “Up List”.  It is a list that I can use/read/activate on my next down day. (It is really hard to make this list on a down day!)  Over time, I came up with a list of the positive things that I have accomplished, things that I love about myself, and things that I am proud of.  It also includes some people that I can talk to that will inevitably make me feel better.  I also received some great input from other people.  This could be a great tool or exercise for any generation.
