Trusted Saskatoon Auto Body Experts at Superior Auto Body Share 5 Fall Driving Safety Tips

Trusted Saskatoon Auto body Pros at Superior Auto Body in Saskatoon has been in business since 1961, and Superior Auto Body has been an SGI APPROVED Saskatoon Auto body shop since SGI started the program in 1982. There are many reasons they have so many loyal longstanding clients from all over the city, but mostly it is the small, personal touches that they offer to people who have been unfortunate enough to require their services. They offer newer model courtesy cars and vans for their clients... and they will also pick up your vehicle, take it to your SGI appointment for you, and deliver the courtesy car to you at home. In their latest Saskatoon Autobody and Collision Repair Tips article, they share 5 fall driving safety tips.

FALL DRIVING SAFETY TIPS FROM SUPERIOR AUTOBODY

Here are 5 fall driving safety tips to stay safe on the road this season.

1. CHECK YOUR VEHICLE'S TIRE PRESSURE

Fluctuating temperatures cause tire inflation levels to change. As temperature drops, tire pressure also drops, so be sure to keep an eye on your vehicle’s tire pressure to avoid flat tires. Underinflated tires alter your ability to steer and handle your vehicle. Keep you and your family safe this fall by checking tire pressure frequently using a tire pressure gauge and always ensure your tires are inflated to their recommended PSI.

2. BEWARE OF WILDLIFE ON THE ROAD

Particularly in the early morning and late evenings, be sure to look out for wildlife on the road. Fall is the peak season for wildlife collisions. Be sure to drive slowly and exercise caution where animal sign crossings appear and flash high beams to alert animals to stay away.

3. BE CONSCIOUS OF CHANGING WEATHER

As the weather gets colder and temperatures drop overnight, icy patches are present on roads. Be sure to reduce speed and drive cautiously to avoid collisions. As temperatures drop frost covers our windshields in the mornings. Be sure to fully defrost your windshield before driving to maximize visibility.

Now that summer has come to an end, school is back in session. Beware of rush hour traffic and children crossing the streets, and slow down in school zones to keep everyone safe. The fall season is also indicative of overnight road maintenance so beware of construction zones and reduce your speed accordingly.

4. BE MINDFUL OF FEWER DAYLIGHT HOURS

As the days get shorter, darkness sets in earlier, and we have to commute more frequently in the dark. Ensure the headlights and taillights on your vehicle are in good working condition to have the clearest view possible of the road ahead.

In the fall season, sun glare is something to be mindful of. During dawn and dusk on your commute, you might find the sun to be directly in your eyes. Ensure you maintain optimal visibility by wearing sunglasses and keep your windshield clean.

5. PREPARE FOR WINTER

The fall season is the perfect time to prepare your vehicle for winter, as you never know when the snow will fly. Update your emergency kit by adding some fall and winter essentials to ensure you are prepared. This should include items such as a flashlight, booster cables, a warm blanket, a waterproof jacket, extra socks and shoes,  a first aid kit, and water.

In preparation for winter, it is also a good idea to replace your windshield wiper blades, check windshield washer fluid levels, and install winter tires on your vehicle to improve traction and safety on the road.

These are a few tips to help you stay safe on the road this fall. When you’re driving, you should focus only on the road that is in front of you and if you get in any collision or accident, contact Superior Autobody for all your vehicle repair needs.
