Trusted Saskatoon Auto Body Experts at Superior Explain Points on Your License

Superior Auto Body Saskatoon has been in business since 1961, and they have been an SGI ELITE Autobody shop and have been SGI accredited since 1982. There are many reasons they have so many loyal longstanding clients from all over the city, but mostly it is the small, personal touches that they offer to people who have been unfortunate enough to require their services.

They offer newer model courtesy cars and vans for clients... and to help out, they also pick up your vehicle and take it to your SGI appointment and deliver the courtesy car to you at home. In their latest ‘Auto Body Tips with Monty,’ owner of Superior Auto Body shares information on when you get points on your driver's license.

WHEN DO YOU GET POINTS ON YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE?

WHEN DO YOU GET POINTS ON YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE?

Do you know when you get points on your driver’s license? Monty explains in the video when you do and don’t get points on your driver’s license.

NO POINTS
Your vehicle is in a parking lot and there has been damage to it while parked. This may be from someone else bumping into your vehicle or perhaps hail damage to your vehicle. In this scenario, there are no points since you were not driving.

POINTS ON YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE

You will get points if you were involved in an accident and SGI deems that you are at fault.

HOW MUCH DO THE POINTS COST?

For example, if you pay $1,000 for your vehicle insurance and you get 6 points on your driver’s license from an accident where SGI deemed that you were at fault, that is $60 which will only last a couple of years.

If you have questions about points on your driver's license or need collision repair, contact us at Superior Auto Body and we can handle all of your repair needs. When you bring your vehicle to Superior Auto Body in Saskatoon, you receive a FREE courtesy car while your vehicle is in the shop.

If you’ve been involved in a collision and are looking to restore your vehicle back to its original form, contact the team at Superior Auto Body Today where we are a Trusted Saskatoon auto body and collision centre.

DEDUCTIBLE AUTO BODY TIP FROM MONTY AT SUPERIOR

WHEN DO YOU PAY YOUR DEDUCTIBLE?

Do you know when you may have to pay your deductible? Monty explains in the video scenarios when you do and don’t have to pay your deductible.

PAY YOUR DEDUCTIBLE

SCENARIO #1

You leave your vehicle in a parking lot and you return to damage. This may include a hail storm or you have been involved in a hit and run with no note left on your vehicle. This scenario you do have to pay the deductible.

SCENARIO #2

If you have been involved in an accident where you are at fault, according to SGI. This scenario you do have to pay the deductible.

YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY

SCENARIO #1

You have been involved in an accident where you are not at fault and the other person involved is at fault, according to SGI. You do not have to pay your deductible in this scenario.

COMMON EXAMPLE

One situation that happens a lot is when you have been involved in an accident where you are at fault but your vehicle does not have any damage. The other party involved has damage. Do you have to pay for their deductible? No, you do not.

Here is an example: You back up your truck out of your driveway and you hit your neighbour’s vehicle. Your truck has no damage but your neighbour’s vehicle does have damage. You do not need to pay your deductible in this scenario.

Trusted Saskatoon Auto Body Experts at Superior Share Why Colour Matching is Vital To Repairs

Superior Auto Body Ltd Saskatoon has been in business since 1961, and they are an SGI ELITE Autobody shop and have been SGI accredited since 1982. There are many reasons they have so many loyal longstanding clients from all over the city, but mostly it is the small, personal touches that they offer to people who have been unfortunate enough to require their services. We offer newer model courtesy cars and vans for our clients... and to help out, we will also pick up your vehicle and take it to your SGI appointment for you and deliver the courtesy car to you at home. In our latest accident prevention tips, we share the reason correct paint matching is vital to auto body repairs.

When your vehicle is involved in an accident, you want to have it repaired as close to new condition possible. One of the most technically challenging parts of auto body and collision process is paint matching and the final finish.

We have all seen auto bodywork rolling around the streets of Saskatoon that is not up to par, and it often looks worse than the original accident. If the entire panels have been replaced, there is often a noticeable difference between the new panel and the rest of the car because of mismatched paint. It is the job of the team at Superior Auto Body to make sure your vehicle looks as good as new, and this is a challenge as paint matching is one of the most difficult skills to master.

When your car or truck was newly painted at the factory, the entire body was painted at the same time from the same batch of paint. This ensures that all the parts of the car are EXACTLY the same colour and shade of paint. Paint matching is an art, and only an experienced and accredited auto body shop can accurately match new paint to an original finish. All automotive paints have codes specific to the colour, but there are thousands of variations and shades. Additionally, colour variations from original are inevitable because of normal aging. When a car has been on the road for a few years, there is a normal fading of the color. Even if a new batch of paint is mixed to factory specifications, there may still be a noticeable difference, and this is where the skill of the body shop comes in.

HOW DO YOU KNOW THE EXACT COLOUR TO MATCH?

There is a tag, usually inside the door jamb, with code numbers and one of these codes is the paint color for your car. This number is used to correctly match the paint should a repair ever be necessary. The number of colors available is staggering, even basic colors such as black and red have dozens, if not hundreds of different shades. In addition, the older the vehicle, the more difficult it may be to match the paint. At this point insurance coverage has some influence on the repair work. If a door panel on an older car needs to be repaired after a collision, a good body shop should be able to match the paint to your satisfaction. There are blending techniques that allow new paint to lightly overspray old paint to achieve a transition that is not noticeable. In some cases, it may not be possible to match the paint due to weathering and fading, and it may be necessary to paint the entire side of the car.

Any accident is an unpleasant experience that you want to put behind you. One important step is having your car repaired properly, and the best way to do that is to use an experienced auto body and collision repair shop like Superior Autobody; a repair shop that warranties their work, will repair the hidden damage that may not be apparent for a month after the accident and stands by their work.

Our team at Superior takes pride in their workmanship… as we always say, “When we get through it’s just like new”.

SGI VEHICLE REPAIR ESTIMATE PROCESS

Oh no, you have been involved in a collision or auto accident in Saskatoon...now what?

Getting into an auto accident is a scary experience and the moments following are stressful. Obtaining a trustworthy collision repair estimate is a necessary first step toward getting your vehicle fixed and back on the road. Once you do that you can get on with your life Superior is here to help! Monty Heiser, owner Superior AutoBody

If you are an advocate for having the initial vehicle repair estimate done at a preferred auto body shop ( such as Superior Auto Body, an SGI Elite Bodyshop) to avoid any dispute, we recommend the following steps:

The insured or whoever was driving at the time of accident needs to call SGI first to report their claim.  See the process and follow the steps by clicking on the image below!

Depending upon the circumstances (time of day, type of accident, type of damage), all of which are at SGI’s discretion, the insured can immediately request, while making the report, to have the appraisal done at a preferred auto body shop, whose name needs to be mentioned at the time of report e.g. Superior Auto Body.

Should the request be granted by the adjuster, SGI will email the auto body shop directly with the insured’s details and claim information.

The auto body shop will contact the insured directly to arrange a date and time to do the appraisal.

Generally, it is a better option for the insured to call SGI to make the report and request to have the estimate done at their preferred auto body. This way, they know immediately if that is an option or not. Filing an online claim leaves the insured at SGI’s discretion to determine where to book the appraisal for, which might be at one of SGI’s claim centres, most likely.
