Kari has been involved in the real estate world with her parents, who started investing in Saskatchewan real estate when she was 12. She also began managing rental properties when she was 17 years old, giving her the appreciation and ability to understand the Saskatoon revenue home market. She had the fortunate upbringing of helping out with these revenue homes, from helping insulate attics to shingling roofs which makes her more knowledgeable than your average Saskatoon real estate agent.

Kari is open-minded and confident, which comes from travelling around the world on her own when she was in her mid 20's. On her travels, she met and befriended people from every walk of life, and as a result,  she could connect with almost everyone she met, no matter their situation. Kari believes this is a vital asset in being a successful Saskatoon real estate agent.

Kari has lived across Canada, but her love for Saskatoon was deciding where to settle down and put down some roots. In her opinion, after many years and countries travelled, Saskatchewan-born and raised people are amongst the friendliest and most accommodating people in the world.

Meet the Razor Heating and AC Team 

“I began my career in late spring of 1999 with a local HVAC service and installation company here in Saskatoon. This is where I completed my apprenticeship in Plumber/Gas fitter. I gained a wealth of knowledge in my time there through apprenticeship training along with real world scenarios on the job site. In early spring of 2007 Razor Heating & A/C Ltd. started to get in the works. Jeff and I opened our doors in our first location by the airport. Within 5 years we had outgrown that  location and purchased our own place in the north east  of Saskatoon within the industrial area close to Silverwood. Aside from every aspect of running the business I enjoy time spend with friends and family outdoors. Especially sharing everything I enjoyed as a child with my son Nash. Everything from fishing, snowmobiling, quading, biking and projects around the house. Thanks for everything friends and family!!!!!“ - Dustin Shaw

Their longest-serving employee is Laura Slugowski. Jeff and Dustin explain that she is the glue that keeps the place running as smoothly as it does. Laura was indentured into the trade in early 2010 and completed her journeyperson plumber and general gas fitter in 2013. More recently she shifted into the office taking the role of office manager. Laura is the friendly helpful voice on the phone, she provides superior service to customers calling in as she truly understands the issues you may be facing and can provide her expert assistance to help troubleshoot from the 1st interaction you have with the company!

A History To Be Proud Of

George Bateman opened G.W. Bateman Jewellers in October of 1945 at 122 20th Street East. George had recently returned home from overseas after serving six years in the Canadian Armed Forces during World War II as an instrument technician.

In 1948 after working at Bateman’s  Jewellery Store Millie married George and  In 1954 George opened a second store in the Senator Hotel on 21st street. In 1981 he opened a third location in Melfort. Bateman Jewellers reputation became the store with the largest assortment of diamonds and watches in Saskatoon and boasted the most up-to-date repair departments. 

Fast forward to  1992 when George's daughter Marilynand her husband Ken, purchased Bateman’s from her father George. In 1995 the store moved to its current location on  2nd Avenue South. This gave them more space and they owned the building.

In February 2004 While travelling to a jewellery show in Edmonton with a coworker, Marilyn was involved in a serious car accident. Although she continued to work during her recovery, she found it difficult. Which led to them making the decision to sell the store with the intent to retire in B.C

Cam Kripki, the current owner,  had been working for Bateman’s since 1991. Cam was eager to purchase the store from Marilyn given his education in gemology and watch repair. He appreciated the history, the legacy and the reputation Batemans had built over it’s long history. In mid 2004, Cam and his long time customer & private supplier for Bateman Jewllers, John Scarfe, started conversations about a partnership to buy the store. John also has a gemology background, he believed in the potential of Bateman’s and its good reputation.

In March 2005, Cam, his wife Janice, his business  partner John Scarfe and his wife Laurie became business partners, then in January 2016 John sold his shares  to Cam and Janice Kripki who are now the sole proprietors and continue to operate the store with integrity and care.  You may recognize Cam’s voice from his long running  ‘ Legend Of The Rock ‘ radio ads.

Over the years Bateman’s offerings have expanded to include high quality giftware, including quality fashion jewellery,  fine glassware, jewellery boxes, Maison Bergers  and beautifully designed household items. They hold a huge sale every year in October to commemorate their anniversary,  the deals available are awesome and definitely worth checking out!!
